This one sounds good:
Midwife : Liza by Valerie Levy
The year is 1339. Liza’s midwifery skills are needed by the inhabitants of Hollingham. Knowing this keeps the lonely old woman going, together with the occasional ‘trip’ to her long dead husband and children. But she makes one mistake, and the villagers begin to suspect she is using occult spells to harm them. She tries desperately to regain their trust, but time is running short. Rosalind, rich, lonely and naïve, wants to experience true love and falls in love with a monk, by whom she conceives a child. Liza and the Lady Isabella, Rosalind’s mother, must pick up the pieces. None of the three women will ever be the same again.
LIZA is the first book in the MIDWIFE series, which tells the story of midwives, women and childbirth in England from medieval to modern times.

Soppy one for those who like that sort of thing
Loving Rebecca (The Loving Trilogy) by Patricia Hooton
What circumstances could lead to a young couple, passionately in love, being separated by the Atlantic Ocean, in just a few short weeks.
And
What circumstances could possibly lead them to come face to face again after a year apart.
This is a debut novel by Patricia Hooton and follows the 'will they, won't they' passionate relationship between Mark and Rebecca, from the academia at Oxford University to the quiet peaceful village life in the Cotswold tourist area and then to the Amercian Deep South area of the picturesque and historical town of Charleston in South Carolina.
Mark arrives at Oxford University from the University of South Carolina to collaborate on a research paper with an absent Rebecca and nobody seems to know the reason why she is absent. However, three weeks later, she walks in and it is love at first sight, as they work closely together. Although Rebecca wears a wedding ring there is no mention of a husband.
It isn't long before her estranged and abusive husband, Jeremy, shows up at the university to argue with Rebecca, but Mark is there to comfort her and so the passionate relationship starts.
Tragedy follows a passionate night of love, as a broken hearted Mark immediately disappears back to America and Rebecca is left to pick up the pieces of her own broken life and deal with the secrets that Jeremy has kept hidden.
Then one day, Mark and Rebecca suddenly come face to face and have to deal with the ensuing consequences.

More to my taste :T
Flux by Mark R Faulkner
Iain is looking forward to the weekend when a number nineteen bus shatters his body, but broken bones are the least of his worries.
His near death experience is not a vision of exquisite godliness with light at the end of a tunnel. Instead he experiences a place of darkness and heat, inhabited by foul creatures, the sounds of suffering and a beast.
During a long recovery Iain becomes plagued by nightmares and premonitions, shadowy apparitions, a magpie, and a vile old man. They all have a message, that something wants Iain and it won't give up easily.
Iain’s friends do their best to cheer him up in the best ways they know how, until the unexpected events of one sunny afternoon mean that he is on his own, caught up in the age old battle of good versus evil.

These books are quite good I've even bought the other ones in the series. What is good is that you can read them out of order as well as it doesn't make too much difference to the flow,of the stories.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
