Can't text on new phone help please?

right here goes, I bought a PAYG phone on the Vodafone network a Samsung c3050, I've no wish to remain on Vodafone but as is the norm with all these networks I still needed to purchase the £10 top up. Now I'm an Asda Mobile customer & it's a lot cheaper to text and phone but unfortunately I couldn't find a suitable phone at the right price from them so I shopped around. Now I can put in my Asda Mobile sim fine in to my new phone & can phone people on it but when I try & text it comes up text failed?! I've then put the Asda Sim back in to my really old Sony Ericsson & I can text fine no problem. So my question is have Vodafone put something in to the phone to prevent me texting on other phones? I put the Vodafone sim in to my new phone and Hey Presto I can text! Anyone had similar problems to me?:o

Maybe the Samsung phone has the vodafone message centre number set into it for SMS messages. Check the settings on the working phone to see what Asda's message centre number is - change the Samsung to that and it should work.

Tried that mate & still the same, I phoned Asda Mobile & that's what they told me to do
