Server stats is a bad idea, they rely heavily on browser headers as they can't read from the browser. If you disable browser headers from being sent, you get no stats

With millions of people on the site, if you don't have something to track activity, how are you going to know what is the best thing on your site?

Also, this is MSE's site. They can implement what they wish as they see fit. Besides, your only 10 people with a problem with it out of millions?

I'm guessing your site isn't as big as this one then.

Analytics is a VERY powerful tool, much more powerful and detailed than anything on your own server.

Awful lot of people in this thread need tinfoil hats.

I use both analytic tools for various websites I manage.
Both work in a similar way but give me different ways of viewing the results.

Its got nothing to do with tracking what so ever!
