You'll find most sites actually use google analytics in order to monitor traffic within their own site. This isn't to sell information, it's to check using the reports for things like broken links, page hits (eg useful to see which guides are useful by number of hits and time spent on them).
Not sure why they have to use google analytics to do this. I get that data from my web server stats. Also, some people use browsers that can disable these types of logger so the data will be missing from google (etc).0 -

Google Analytics and ChartBeat are exactly the same so I'm not sure why MSE have both trackers installed.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0
