perhaps this means that 1/3rd of the first 30,000 decided it just wasn't worth switching?

I find it amazing that Which & co rope hundreds of thousands in for their "buying power" and end up with deals only slightly better or not better at all.

Sounds like most people have walked away.

I think it would make an interesting statistic to see what has actually happened.

I am on the verge of switching. I have only just moved into my flat so don't have much info in the way of consumption but BG charges 29.667p per unit for the first 720kwh per year and 16.755p per unit after that and 6.2p on the night rate (I have economy 7).

Co-op are offering a fixed rate of 17.2p per unit day and 6.2p night rate BUT have a standing charge of 17p per day. Am I better switiching or sticking?

Seeing it in black and white I think I may be better sticking??

EDIT - Co-op standing charge equates to £63 a year where as, by my reckoning BG's higher rate (13p x 720kwh) equates to £93.60.

Just tried to call the Big switch - (am not convinced by their bill calculation) - am still waiting for an answer (15 mins already) - lucky its not one of those !!!!!! 0845 numbers - have free calls via Skype!

agh they just answered - and took my number to call me back ... wonder whether they will.

anyone else have trouble getting through to them on the phone?

My Big Switch savings are listed at between £377 - £398, Coop to Sainsburys.

I am sorely tempted but that saving, but can I trust it?

No, definitely not, make your own calculations if you can! The Big Switch seem to be particularly bad at estimating prices, if I'd gone with their supposed saving of £213 with the coop, I'd now be paying a lot than with my existing supplier, and I have no idea how they came up with that figure (about 50% off my annual consumption?! can you really do that?!).

They did recommend Sainsbury's energy as the best tariff though and after I looked into it realised I might only save about £20 a year at most (not the £200+ they were promising), but at least there are no early exit penalties so it's worth switching to, cos my calculations included the 100 discount I get from npower, but only once a year on the direct debit anniversary date, so it'd be lost if I dont stay for the full second year, whereas the sainsbury's tariff seems to apply no matter how long you stay.

No call back from the Big Switch this morning. On the phone to them again. 15 mins so far.

Isn't it better to say no phone number than to have one and not be able to support it?

I just want to know how they calculate the savings they have estimated.

Has anyone got through to them on the phone?

    - my reading of the debacle is different
    - they take STRIKE]greed[/STRIKE £40 per customer for the 'service'
    - and what could have made a clink in the supplier caucus
    - was blown apart by that very high 'referential' clawback
    - so the potential biggies in the supply chain walked way
