The Big Switch (Which/38 Degrees)
Hello all
I've been using MSE for a long time but don't often post so hopefuly I'm doing so in the right place.
38 Degrees and Which (I'm not linked to either organisation) are promoting a reverse auction for Gas/Electricity supply and so far have got almost 200,000 people who've signed up for campaign.
I wondered if this was something that MSE users, or even Martin himself would be interested in supporting.

Thanks for reading.

38 Degrees is a communist (Marxist) organisation. No way am I supporting them.0

Quite frankly anything Which have got their sticky fingers in to, i would steer well clear.
There have already been reports of spamming just by signing up. They have your details, then theres the getting away from them years down the line, is it worth it for literally a few pence.0 -
Signing up does not compel you to accept any tariff they might negotiate, it just means that they will offer you an option on it.
Frankly, given Which's membership base, 200K is not that impressive, I gues that they'd need 3 or 4 times that number to get any real negotiating muscle. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Eh? I registered my interest weeks ago and haven't been spammed by them yet (I use different email addresses for different things, so quite easy to spot!) I just got an acknowledgement email and that's it.Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -
SSE are out and for very good reasons.

SSE are out and for very good reasons. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

Gotta love that dig at EDF in point 4.. :rotfl:Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
I was thinking of signing up - but wanted some advice first.
basically read an article in This is money - titled I love The Big Switch but why is Which? so sensitive about the fees?
by @jeffprestridge
(as a newbie I am not allowed to put in the web address - hopefully a quick search will find the document!)
that made me think - is this just a money making scam from which? they always go on about transparency and find out about fees before you do stuff - yet this guy says they won't say what they are charging.
I couldn't see anything about referral fees anywhere on which site. Have been told all the switching sites use referral fees - and remember reading on MSE that they are between 30 - 60 quid. If Which is charging that they will make millions.
what do people here think?0 -

I'm just waiting to see how this pans out tbh, there is no harm in registering. If npower, EDF or E.on win I won't be interested anyway. I am happy with Co-op Energy.0 -
thanks meggsy - yep that was the article i read
- to be honest I found it a bit shocking - I thought which were different
has anyone heard about thepeoplespower site? I found the stuff about referral fees there quite quickly - and have now signed up to both sites - (really weird they even had a link to Whcih/38degrees site ... either they are really confident they will get a better price or they don't care about making money!)
... I'm not happy with my energy supplier - utility warehouse - I'll be switching soon!0
