Can I transfer a halifax easycash to first direct and get the £100 for switching? Does this account count as a current account for switching purposes?
Thanks

I "think" it might. Don't forget you can also claim a £100 leaving gift from First Direct as well.0

You dont need to use the switching service or switch any DDs to get the joining bonus.0

Their website seems to suggest you do...You dont need to use the switching service...to get the joining bonus.Switch your banking to us we'll give you £100**
** Open a 1st Account then transfer your banking using our Easyswitch service (transferring at least two Direct Debits and/or standing orders) and salary/income of at least £1,500 per month to your 1st Account within three months of your account opening and we will add £100 to your account.

Honestly, you do not have to switch, just open a new new first direct account and fulfil the conditions0

They've also clarified previously experiencing the "delights of banking with first direct" as "This offer is only available for people who haven't previously held any account with first direct and is limited to one payment per joint relationship".

Oops! Looks like the T&Cs for the £100 must have changed then.0

Yep, they've changed it. It used to be a joining bonus, but now it's a switching bonus."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0

And it must be your first ever FD product, I had an ISA with them 6 years ago or so and that prevents me qualifying for the switching offer allegedly0

But don't forget they "give" you £250 interest free overdraft which in essence means they will give you a further £100 if you leave but £250 if you stay!0 -

assuming you stay with them for life otherwise you would have to pay them £250 to leave (if you used the OD, of course)0
