Huge increase in cost of washing powder/liquid

And knowing Tesco it will go even higher.today it was up to £8.19!!!
After all if they want to sell something at £5.00 & claim it's a half price offer, then they've got to sell it at £10.00 first, no matter how unrealistic the price is.
And why not? There are people out there willing to pay ridiculous prices.
I'm just glad I've still got a good supply of tablets from one of their previous clearance offers a few years ago. 80 Persil tablets for about £3.00 - I think I've about six boxes left

Seems to clean well, I've never had to deal with mud etc but general coffee stains and bits of tomato etc have been sorted.
Never tried the branded to compare, it washes my clothes, not sure what else I'd want.
I agree with this as well. I've been using this for a while now with about a desert spoon of soda crystals as well. Works fine on my allotment clothes and nursery clothes which are oftern covered in compost!0 -
When I used to use the shops own brand I personally found Sainsburys to be the best.
Tried a few Formil (Lidl) when it was half-price and found it OK, not my 1st choice though. If you do like it, it makes sense to stock up for the year when half-price (if you can afford it).
M&S is OK also and sometimes good value when on offer.

Either stop washing so often, or use soapnutz

I buy the Aldi washing liquid at £2 something. It works really well and smells nice too.
I don't bother with conditioner though. I haven't noticed my clothes are stiff.0 -
I think it's possible to get away with omitting conditioner much of the time but it's essential for towels otherwise they come out all rough - and all mine are Christy.0

^ towels are one of the things I would wash without conditioner for absorbency, but to save separate washes they usually go in with clothes anyway. I can't bear jeans without conditioner though.
I only use Ecover, I find all the conventional branded stuff far too strong and once you stop using anything like that it is even stronger when you smell it again, the smell lingers for ages, god knows what they put in it to do that! Buying the Ecover 5 litres when on offer works out fairly cheap.0 -
I make my own recipe now, it's a lot cheaper and seems to clean as well if not better on some stains. Also, if things take a bit longer to dry they don't get that nasty smell. I would recommend making your own powder. I just make a big load and mix up a bit in a jam jar to a liquid whenever I do a wash. Saves me loads.MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOUR0

When people come to my flat and dry their hands on my towels, they comment how soft my towels are. I dry all of my washing inside as don't have anywhere outside to do this. People that hang their towels to dry outside, leave them for longer than required and go hard with the sun. Best bet is to take them in if they are a little damp in patches. But in the spring and summer, people hang their washing then go to work, where they can't pop into their garden every 30 mins to check the washing.0
