Huge increase in cost of washing powder/liquid

I only ever get stuff on offer when it works out less than 10p a wash, some of the branded stuff I have got for 6 or 7p a wash on offer and using coupons, also I put in a couple of tablespoons of soda crystals in with each wash means I have to use 1/2 to 2/3 of the recommended dose on the washing powder or washing liquid packaging and it softens the water too. I currently have 3-4 years worth of laundry products in my airing cupboard because I could see the price going up after all these offers that were on recently xx0

Saw big boxes of Surf in Asda today, 90 washes for £9. If you can get a coupon, even better.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

adding my two pennys worth! I have a very eco conscious OH and we bought simply washing tabs which were on offer £2 for 30 washes at Ts, they are now £3. They come in a handy size round bucket which i reused as plant pots this weekend!
They leave a light scent not as strong as ariel, are really good on sensitive skin. We use a capful of vinegar as softener or with stubborn stains I sneakily got ariel stain remover on try me free (see thread on freebies board).
I have also tried soapnuts which were more messy but still left clothes in great condition, unlike a lot of the other cheap options.0 -

I love the 'simply' range as well, especially when on offer you're technically meant to use 2 tabs per load (at least in a hard water area you are) but I found for most loads one was enough xx0 -

When people come to my flat and dry their hands on my towels, they comment how soft my towels are. I dry all of my washing inside as don't have anywhere outside to do this. People that hang their towels to dry outside, leave them for longer than required and go hard with the sun. Best bet is to take them in if they are a little damp in patches. But in the spring and summer, people hang their washing then go to work, where they can't pop into their garden every 30 mins to check the washing.
I dry all my towels inside as well, zealots at the housing association won't allow drying washing outside, strangely I have found the asda smartprice towels wash really well coming out really soft after washing and a few of the ones we got recently are quite a decent thickness and look to be of a reasonable quality-it isn't consistent though as I sent OH to get some and some of the ones he picked up looked thin and even had bald/threadbare patches, yet it was the same product.0 -

ive gone back to powder from the liqitabs
they were getting so expensive and im lucky we have a makro near by and they do deals on washing powder
and im not using there "recommended amount" i use a third to half what they say, sometimes i add the odd spoon of soda crystals too.
I wash on a lower wash temp too, mostly a 30deg unless its bedding and i do that on a hotter wash
and it all gets clean and sometimes even more so , then what they tell you to use0 -
Tesco's own (the one in the bag) was £1.67.. I noticed yesterday that it's now £2.59. Still fairly cheap than the well known ones I know. but I won't be buying it now at that price.
Prefer to shop elsewhere anyway to buy special offers !!0
