Transferring out of Halifax, address please

Hi,

I am trying to complete a Santander transfer form. I am transferring out of Halifax. The Santander form is asking for the address and phone number of Halifax but I can't find it. I have found a PO Box Leeds one but unsure if this is correct.

Can anyone tell me what the address is and phone number is please?

Thank you.

The Leeds PO Box address will be fine.

I don't know why Santander are asking you this, as they are required to use the address on the industry wide ISA transfer address database and not the one you put down.
Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place

Whilst there is no need to have an address on the form, as it will be ignored, I have yet to see a transfer form that does not include a space for an address.
  • Ah right, thanks for that. I thought they would probably know this information but didn't want to risk the form being delayed. They also ask for a phone number, any ideas? If not, I'll just send it back without it on.

    Thanks for your help.

    Just leave it blank.

In the unlikely event of Santander needing to phone Halifax, then I'm sure they can work out how to contact them.

It has become apparent that you need to fill out a form to transfer a Halifax ISA to another Halifax ISA. You can't do this over the phone or online. Is this a fact that should be stated more prominently to Halifax users and their staff or is it a lucky dip scenario, where some staff can do it and others can't.

Not true, they should be able to do halifax to halifax transfers over the phone but a lot of their staff are incompetent/poorly informed. The fact they are still giving out this duff info after several weeks in inexcusable.

Best not to waste time/money talking to Halifax staff, there is an Online form for transfers:-

I went transferred my isa from Halifax to santander in the branch. The lady asked for the address of Halifax and I said don't know as it was online. She sort of said oh ok well I need the address. Implying that she couldn't do it without one. So I told her to google the sort code as that is what I did last year to get the address and she typed it to her system I think not google and it came out as Southend. She asked again if this sounded right and I said no idea it was online!! Seems to be going through ok as my Halifax isa was closed yesterday.
  • Thanks for the information. I will leave the Leeds address on the form then. When completing the form it also asks for the Halifax Account number, doesn't, however, ask for the sort code, would you suggest I add it in front of the account number anyway....sorry never completed a transfer before.

    Thanks again for your help.

I was going to ask the same question about the address. After reading this thread I'm just going to use the Leeds address too. For the phone number I'm going to put 08457 26 36 46 which I found here http://www.halifax.co.uk/contactus/callus.asp

What did you do about the sort code? Did you add it or not?
