Another second for Hanbury's - Restaurant and Fish and chip shop. Thanks for the tip about the voucher site too.

Not too far from there also on the Babbacombe 'front' as such is Angels, which not only does great lunches/snacks etc but is particularly famed for its cream teas - everything is homemade and scrummy:D

The Linney. Wonderful food. Signposted from the newton road by the caravan sales thingy. My sister lived in Torquay for 30 years , we visit 3-4 times a year. Dont bother with harbourside ones. Devon Dumpling, fab food, off beaten track. Up the hill Shiphay Lane off Newton Road to lights and turn right follow round Pub at bottom. Enjoy

I'm back from Torquay and had to come back and say thanks for all the suggestions. Fortunately, my colleagues had ideas too so couldn't try a fraction of the places you all gave me.

I ate at Hennessy, very smart and lovely food. We went to an Indian away from the main part of town, I think it was called Bombay Spice. That was good too, again quite smart, not the usual grimy flocked wallpaper!:rotfl:We ate in Biancos which was a bit pricey (although we did have 3 courses and copious wine) but had a good atmosphere and portions were generous. On Sunday we found ourselves in Totnes and went for a drink in the Seven Stars just as the carvery was starting. Again lovely atmosphere, great service and food very good. A colleague went to Jingles (Mexican) and loved it.

Also wanted to say that taxis were very cheap in Torquay.

Thanks again for all your help. x
