Eating Out in Torquay

I'm going to be in Torquay on business next month and need some restaurant suggestions. It doesn't have to be cheap cheap but need to be able to take colleagues out in the evenings and don't want hotel food day after day. I'd appreciate a range of cuisines (Italian, Chinese, Indian, European.... anything!) to suit all tastes. TIA

The Ernie Lister bar in Brixham is very nice as is the Breakwater resturant at the start of the breakwater in Brixham.
Brixham isnt very far from Torquay about 4/5 miles.
Havent really eaten in Torquay except for a christmas meal at Man Fridays which is opposite the harbour in Torquay.

My suggestion is a bistro so may not be to everyone's taste but it has excellent reviews on www.tripadvisor.com and we like it! The food is simple and wholesome, but there is plenty of choice.

It is called Steps Bistro and is tucked away just off Fleet Street, almost opposite the harbour, up a small set of steps. http://www.stepsbistro.co.uk/index.html
£1 or less - entry to Woburn Safari Park, pair of cargo shorts, men's desert boots, £5 book token, tree peony, 2 x tights, National trust entry (50p for 2) *1 night at Hoxton Hotel* :D + numerous freebies. Thanks MSE :T

Thanks for all suggestions to date. I've been looking at the menus and I'm hungry already!!

Any more would be greatly appreciated, especially in the town centre.

My vote would be for Jingles as well! Also, there is a decent Indian just a few doors further up the hill - it's got fish tanks in the walls, can't remember it's name though.

Town centre is not that good for decent eateries really.

Jingles is only really at the bottom of the town.

There is also 'The Elephant' - Michelin starred - again on the harbourside not far from Jingles. Have not been there though.

Your forgetting Hennesy. Just off the harbourside and is modern, lively and would be perfect ambiance for business. Beautiful food, gorgeous cocktails....

Also agree with previous suggestion of The Elephant, lovely food but a tad pricey.

Ooh thought of some more, Amici is a Italian place a min walk from the harbourside, Spoken is a pretty place on the harbourside again, not bad food but its the building you go for and the last suggestion (hear me out!) is Prezzo....before you knock it, its right on the harbour, the building is gorgeous. It used to be a bank back in the day so the interior is all marble and really high ceilings, really pretty place. You almost forget its Prezzo! I cant think of many other places, we're not exactly multicultural down 'ere... :D

  • For great views and I enjoy the food for me its The Grand Hotel (not in the town centre though but has free parking or a 20 minute walk along the seafront) but also The Imperial Hotel I last had afternoon tea there and it was very good and great views and great building.
Can back up the Prezzo comments love it there and good staff
