Bless your niece, that must be really tough. I think it's almost a bit harder now we are able to meet up with people, for me I think I'm better off not seeing them at all than seeing them and not being able to touch them. I've got some time off coming up and my Mum suggested we could meet up somewhere (they live about an hour away), but I'm not sure I want to see her and still have to stay apart. It's the same with BF, I said I might go over there and spend a few hours in the garden, but all I really want to do is give him a great big hug 😦 Need to keep reminding myself this is only temporary in the grand scale of things, but it doesn't make it any easierMortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

I couldn’t agree more - there’s something much sadder about seeing someone in the flesh and not being able to touch them than just seeing them on screen. Another consideration if you’ve got to travel that far though SC is where/when you can use a loo!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

The availability of loos is never far from my mind Vix! BF's is only about 15 minutes away though (with current traffic), so not an issue there. I think I'm better off not seeing my Mum, but she does seem to be weirdly struggling with lockdown. They broke curfew before the restrictions were eased and went to a supermarket 25 miles away for a change of scene, then went to the garden centre as soon as they possibly could (as well as yet another supermarket!) She doesn't work, so is home all the time anyway and has plenty of hobbies/gardening to keep her occupied, so I can't quite get my head round why she's finding it so difficult! "Climbing the walls" was the phrase she used!
Oh well, you can't please everyone all of the time I suppose....Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

I'm glad it's not just my parents misbehaving... I think that generation are particularly resistant to being told what to do - maybe as a result of their parents' generation's hardships during the war? I don't know. Perhaps it's being stuck at home all the time with your Dad (or her partner, sorry, don't want to assume anything!)?Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

The bike ride sounds lovely vix! I too am missing not being able to hug family. I saw my grandparents yesterday as my nan couldn't get her new SIM card to work, I made her leave it out in the conservatory with wipes so I could clean it before and after, we then talked through the closed sliding door. All I wanted to do was hug them, knowing that with them being in their 80s I have limited time left with them anyway 😪Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000.
Aiming to be mortgage free by my 40th birthday, June 2026!5 -
Could be Vix, he (Stepdad) is furloughed, so they are seeing more of each other!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Oh Jessy, it’s so hard, isn’t it? 😔 And you’re obviously really close to them. This too shall pass... but it’s the not knowing when that makes it harder!
SC, I’ve seen some good memes/videos going around about couples spending too much time with each other in lockdown! Not sure they involved exciting trips to distant supermarkets though!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Yeah, it says a lot about my old home town that a jaunt to Tesco is considered a treat 😂!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Morning all,
DH and I are treating today like a normal work day so that he can have a day off later in the week. I have just finished my work... so that's a normal day for me then! Bread is proving, washing is on (I've given up on washing overnight - I never sleep through it and I get little enough sleep as it is) and I've watered and fed the plants. Very disappointed to see that that slimy man is still in his job this morning - it beggars belief.
Not sure what the rest of the day will hold - but we're having dinner with friends (by Skype) tonight, which will be nice. Still undecided on the shopping front. Latest thinking is no supermarket delivery, but a different selection from R'ford. Or maybe a very small supermarket delivery (topped up with cat litter and treats, both of which we need but could wait)...
MS things:
* Clicks done
* 2 x PA surveys done
* Work done (even the Americans have a holiday today, so not sure why I bothered!)
* DH had some Christmas turkey from freezer for dinner last night - has freed up a quarter of a drawer, but he now needs to make some curry and eat it this week with the rest.
* Have paid off Amex CC using unused monies from other budgets - window cleaner (haven't seen him since December?), evening class and excess cat holiday fees (have kept a healthy budget in there). Will still have Virgin cc to pay on payday, but it's something. Still other excess funds that could be used for other cc, so will take another look soon.
Gratitudes:
* My CC bill is much lower than it would be if we'd just got back from the US??? Not sure I can be grateful for this really!
* Lovely sunny day today
* It seems very peaceful here
Have a good day all!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I was also disappointed that the slimy man still had his job this morning. He is making a statement later ....methinks he will be playing for the public sympathy vote. But I don't believe a word any of them says.Bozza kept saying that he did what any parent would do.......no Bozza they wouldn't and didn't !If that slimy man had the interests of the Country at heart he would have resigned, to stop this distracting from the important business of the government. End of Rant6
