Morning all,
Karma - I know what you mean about trying to fit the gratitudes in. I read plenty of articles that suggest doing these things before bed, but by that point by brain just wants to read and fall asleep. I do tend to just think them to myself (especially if I need a pick-me-up) if I've not written on here recently.
Posted our current living room carpet on Freegle yesterday and pleased to have various takers lined up - mostly it's in reasonable condition (just a couple of issues), so I was feeling a bit guilty about replacing it. Happier now I know it'll have a new lease of life. New radiator is due to arrive today for DH to fit Friday.
Yesterday ended up being a very expensive day - not only the carpet, but booked by niece's birthday present and DH's birthday present (both budgeted for). Also arranged for various people to come to us for dinner, so Feb and March now looking quite busy!
Think it'll be a max £1 Ebay weekend this weekend, and people will have been paid by now, so will try listing some of the bits I've been hanging on to.
MS things:
* Clicks done
* An actual work project I can properly get my teeth into
* Homemade pizza for tea tonight (using flour and sauce already in, last of the oregano oil used up - cupboard is looking clearer still :j ). Kidney beans ready to soak for cooking tomorrow. Looking like we'll definitely make it to the end of the month without running out of necessities
Gratitudes:
* Sunshine here this morning, although I can't go out as waiting for delivery!
* Work
* Being able to borrow tools from family - swapped the wallpaper stripper for the sander at my Dad's last night! (I'm sure the sander spends more time here than it does at his! :rotfl: )

Well done with cracking on with the decorating, I bet you can't wait to see it all come together! Dont blame you for getting a new carpet, theres nothing better than a nice new fluffy carpet! xMortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Morning all,
Thanks Jessy!
So I've been out for a very bracing walk in the fresh air this morning - it's a lovely day but my goodness, it's cold (and I'm nowhere near Skegness - can't imagine how bracing it must be on the coast!). Dropped something off to a Freegler and posted my last post for this stint on the RM survey. Still doing a Correctly Delivered for them, so that'll be another £5 voucher when it's finished.
Have work to finish off today and then I think I should really do some woodwork sanding and painting.... I hate it! Veg box due today and I have meals planned until the end of the weekend (including a trip to Wagamamas with vouchers at some point). Have a found a couple of new recipes to try which use ingredients we already have (and will use up a couple of bits too :T ), bar a couple of small additions, so am looking forward to those.
MS things:
* £6.82 cashback received on second cc - rarely used (kept for trips abroad, so pleased with this) - have to remember to spend it now!
* Clicks etc.
* Still using stuff up... it's amazing how far it goes. Challenge for today is to find something for DH to have for lunches for the rest of the week - he took some gingerbread and twiglets today - not a healthy diet!
* Cats are joining the use-it-up challenge, testing some food I bought for them on offer before Christmas. Will keep a can back for emergencies, but don't need three in the cupboard. So far, so good and am thinking I'll send this with them for their hols, rather than trying to cook enough chicken and get the cattery to understand the instructions! Also using up the treats at the bottom of the treat jar, rather than opening a new pack (which would be nicer - for us - as there is dried fish powder coating everything at the bottom of the jar!).
Gratitudes:
* BIL came round to help DH with the new radiator last night - the delivery man needed my help, but it was so heavy we only managed to get it in the gate (with me dropping it several times :eek: ) It's now our temporary TV stand!
* A lovely different walk in the sunshine and fresh air
* My last piece of Grasmere gingerbread with my elevenses - until next time!

Thanks Karma - the bottom of the treat jar is pretty grim!
But also the lid has broken, so I think when it's empty, it might go - another thing decluttered!
Aren't you good, putting washing outside... I need to get on to that, but need DH's help to put washing line back in the ground (the bottom is broken (recurring theme?!) and I haven't got the knack!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

It brings less damp into the house, madvix, thats why I like it. And it was easy to mend - mine is just the line, literally, thats broken, its a cheapo from a £land, I think, it used to be 4 lines worth, and now it looks like it has another mend in it, and then its done :rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Totally agree about the less damp. I just haven't braved putting anything out for a while - not sure how much it would dry today, rather than freeze!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I'm the same as you re the washing. Our rotary dryer has a slightly bent frame from where DH replaced the line and laced it too tightly(!) It is out all winter with its' cover on this year because we had to borrow a metal detector last Spring, because the spike in the ground part had gone foe a wander in the wet Spring (we get a lot of cold wet Springs here in the East! - Anyway, it will need de-bugging before it is used so I am using the hanging rail in the boiler cupboard and everything dries in there on hangers (including the redeployment of M&S Trouser hangers for pants and socks!) Haha, trade secrets!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Morning all,
Glad to know it's not just me whose house resembles a Chinese laundry (although yours' sounds more tucked away SL!).
We have a new radiator in the living room :T It took all day yesterday (including the painting and prepping behind it, but job complete without too many leaks or disasters! And it's lovely and warm in there now (it's quite a large room with the radiator on the short wall nearest the rest of the house - the further part of the room is a single-storey extension (although actually originally built like that)). The investment (including takeaway for the workers (us!)) was worth it!
Today will be all about getting the last coat of paint on the walls, the woodwork and resealing around the windows (they'd been replaced over the old wallpaper, so all the frame sealant had to be cut away to get rid of the wallpaper). Then tomorrow we just have to dismantle the sofas, remove the carpet and wait for the carpet fitters on Monday morning.... and then put everything back together again! It'll be worth it - I am already enjoying spending time in the room more.
Anyway, only popped on to sort out a couple of emails, better go and get moving now! Have a good day all!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
