Mother hen aka Karma - thank you for caring :kisses3: I am, but probably not as much as I should have been - have been trying to break the back of a really tricky bit of work, and if I don't stick at it, I more easily wander off when I'm standing.

    Thanks Earthie - it's a start anyway!

    Morning all,

Dinner last night was deeeelicious. What we had was pretty much the Buddha bowl halfway down this page of GP's old diary. The sauce was amazing.

Tried to sort the energy tariff last night but the provider's website was down, which meant we couldn't make comparisons.... annoyingly.

Naughty American client didn't pay yesterday but has assured me I'll be paid today. Not entirely helpful, as I'll need to make a decision about whether to part pay myself or leave the pay and money shuffles until tomorrow. Hmm. Sadly I can't afford to lose them as they are a big chunk of my monthly income (and more reliable than most in terms of there always being something from them).

Today I shall be purchasing (in the absence of time for baking) a couple of cakes and taking them with me as bribery to see Nan. I'm remarkably nervous about this, but I know she doesn't really know who I am now, and in a strange context it might be worse. So cakes it is then! Mum, Sis and Niece went yesterday and all was okay (i.e. she'd forgotten everything that had happened Tuesday and there was no evidence of a new will having been written! :rotfl: )

    MS things:
    * SBs (inc survey), VB, MS rewards
    * Card from stores for DH's Nan's birthday
    * Stirfry from fridge bottom tonight, with leftover delicious sauce :)
    * We concluded we might not go to an event this weekend as we've so much to do and could do with a bit of a break too. Will save us £5 entry and a deli-counter picnic. If we do go, I'll cobble some food together anyway.
    * Used up the last of a stale loaf in B&B pud last night

    Gratitudes:
    * My new favourite recipe :rotfl:
    * Nan is settling in well
    * Gorgeous pic sent to me of niece in the garden - absolutely adorable!

    Have a good day all!

That has made my day (so far....) - how sad am I? (Of course, most spending is on cc for points maximisation, but there'll certainly be some TTs in the future :D:D:D

Tthe TTs made me laugh :)

Hope the visit to your nan goes well - the cakes really will help, I imagine, any kind of external focus like that is good.

Loving the Nanwatch story, she probably doesn't realise now what a lucky Nan she is but I am sure she knows deep down how loved she is.

Tilly Tidies made me laugh too...I don't do so many at the moment because we are skint and just have savings on standing orders straight into regular savers. I miss them !

Thanks New Girly, Karma, Busy Mee. It was an interesting visit. She kept asking when she was going home. Cake definitely helped, but she didn't eat much of it. She was in bed and didn't want to get up. Not an entirely happy bunny. I didn't stay long, which I started to feel guilty about and then realised she wouldn't have a clue if I'd been there 5 mins or 5 hours and I was leaving her with people who would take care of her. I think visits in pairs and short and frequent may be the way forward. Hopefully she will settle (keep reminding myself that it's early days) and participate in the activities available there.

    Morning all!

American client has paid, hooray! Will do money shuffles later today.

Off out shortly with DH - he's getting something done to his car, so he's going to drop me in town to do a couple of bits (buy cards mainly - people keep getting engaged and having babies, what's that about ;) ) and then pick me up on the way back (hopefully not too long... I only have a couple of jobs to do!). Saves on petrol and parking anyway :)

Am utterly exhausted today. Fell asleep in front of the TV at about 9.30 last night, dragged myself to bed and would have quite liked a lie-in but the cats don't believe in such things. :( Think it may be the hayfever - it's really bad at the moment and sneezing fits are exhausting!

    Back later with savings update!

I'm sure you're right about the way forward. As she is now, it would have been dangerous to have her at home any more, I'm sad to say. And she might have been asking about going home when she was actually at home, very soon. It's sad no matter where it is :(

My nan, otoh, unlike my dad, never had dementia, and once she turned her hearing aids on :D could have a reasonable conversation. She regarded the other people in her (very nice, very well thought of) nursing home as a load of old fuddy duddies, it was very funny.

Hope the antihistamines take effect soon.

Thanks Karma, you're quite right about it being safe there and not at home anymore. Your Nan sounds like a great character! :D

Antihistamines rarely have much effect. My mum has persuaded me to chew honeycomb cappings as she is convinced doing so has made her hayfever much more bearable. I used to hate the taste but I'm getting used to it. It's a long-term solution though, rather than a short-term one.

Well, my brain has turned to mush, but the Brownie accounts and paperwork are all up to date (took most of the day, even though it hadn't been left that long) and my accounts and money shuffles are all done. Phew.....

Did various jobs in town this morning, including buying a few holiday bits (new sunglasses, because I can't find mine *anywhere* - guaranteed that they'll turn up now!) and a present for one of several imminent arrivals. Got loads of books out of the library too for our hols. :D We're off next week, but my brain hasn't processed that yet!

Due to keeping some money back to pay myself next month (it should be okay financially, but the payment from the Americans was very big, so might as well save some of it), I'm £50 short of having 'my' buffer fund up to scratch. Still some bits to come in from interest and rewards though, so it'll be very close. Not too worried now it's nearly there.

TT 46p to moving savings :D

Pizza tonight, so off to start rolling it out. Bought a sandwich baguette in MrL yesterday to make into garlic bread - a change from a garlic pizza bread (can't buy g. bread as it comes in plastic!).

    Have a lovely evening everyone!
