Thanks Crumpets!
We're in a terrace too and fortunately, from immediate neighbours that's the worst. They park considerately, say hello and generally keep to themselves. There's not even much noise most of the time (I often wonder if we're the loud ones!)
Hope you have a productive day! (I'm feeling that I've achieved more today already than I did yesterday, so so far, so good!).Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Oof, neighbours - I don't have *that* sort of smoke, but next door they burn rubbish in the middle of their garden, and the plots aren't very wide, so they often play a hose on the wooden fence to stop it catching fire. I mean, I get that they're actively trying to do something about it, but why not take that stuff to the tip?
ParkingI don't have a car, and the parking here drives me crazy - the same next door people have 4/5 cars, and they're often outside my house. All day. And my armchair is right by the window (only place for it, cos of my massive bookcase blocking everything else). Parking outside my house blocks my view of the rec.ground, though, and I hate it.
I still hate the idea of moving more, though. The only exception would be if I won the million pound premium bond :rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I don't understand why people can't take stuff to the tip either - that's the problem with our other side neighbours! Except, I think it's all him - she seems very reasonable and normal...
We have 3 cars but one is in the garage and the other on the drive. The problem arises because we are at the bottom of a cul-de-sac and there are flats in the corners, so there are more cars than spaces. So apparently, it's acceptable to block our driveway  Drives us insane and I've written more than one snippy note to people - one parked there for a whole weekend once! The council say we have to keep records and can report it but basically it'll be ages before anything is done about it. The police aren't interested at all.
There's always the Premium Bonds, eh?!
Today is going much better than yesterday - half my jobs list ticked off (yes, it did have more than two things on it, thank you!) and motivated to carry on. Have just been told I can claim some expenses for some of the volunteering, so that's money inMortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Glad your list was going well yesterday.
My ex-business partner and his wife had 3 cars between them at one stage, with no garage and no drive (houses built on a very steep hill) there were no anti-social problems with the neighbours of the kind you and I have just mentioned, but I used to laugh my socks off when he grumbled about how hard parking was2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I'll throw mine in. For 6yrs Our opposite ex neighbours had 4 cars and a transit van grrr! Used to wind everyone up to put it lightly. Alongside this we had 12 months of gangsters and drug dealers 'hiding'their cars on peoples fronts. If confronted you can imagine the threats. Fast forward 2 yrs...neighbours gone and gangsters got 12, 16 and 18yrs each in prison. Totally different atmosphere.MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0

I get parking rage too! We are only a few houses along from a small parade of shops so people sometimes park over our whole drive blocking me/us in, even sometimes when they could park over next doors as they dont have a car or drive, it's a few extra feet to walk clearly. I can't resist going out every time to ask why they have done it, or if I'm busy I leave a note
Jimmy that sounds like a nightmare until they all moved on :eek:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Wow, Jimmy, that puts it into perspective! And I got cross when someone leafleted my car when it was parked on the drive the other day! That must have been a nightmare - so glad they've 'moved on'!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Morning all!
We had a lovely weekend, doing to London to Brighton mini run. It wasn't a cheap weekend though. MSE stuff first: we camped, we took lunch for Saturday and breakfast for Sunday with us. Erm.... the less MSE stuff(!): we forgot the ticket for the event, so I had to get the overground to meet my Dad, who'd retrieved it from our house!; we invited the friends who take us on the L2B in November to join us and we paid for dinner (£100!) - they pay for *everything* when we go in Nov, so we were determined to pay for this, so not that bothered. In addition, our friend paid for lunch yesterday, a drink and ice creams (trying to pay for *anything* in their company is a real battle!). All in all though, it was a great weekend and if MSE teaches us anything, it's to make the most of our money - which this certainly did.
It's back on the MSE bandwagon today (not that we really fell off, more just got off at a stop to explore for the weekend!). Some work to do, and more housework/general progress with stuff. Inspired by Greying's diary, dinner will be from Leanne Brown's Good and Cheap (free PDF on right-hand side) and will be Deconstructed cabbage rolls as we have a cabbage to use and all the other ingredients (veggie sausages).
MS things:
* Watered plants when we got back last night - saved the sage!
* MS rewards, VB poll (when it's up) and SBs (just the quick bits)
Gratitudes:
* A really enjoyable weekend with DH and some car-mad friends
* Excellent weather for camping
* Dad and BIL for looking after the cats (who were very pleased to see both of them)
* Dad for collecting and bringing me the forgotten ticket! (Better find him something nice to drink!)
* Crystal Palace camp site - it's closing at the end of the year (landowners won't renew the lease) - it's a lovely place and we'll miss it!
