Nothing would surprise me these days.
A Laptop Licence, for example....0 -
Any 'detector' van if they were actually real would have a job checking my home or any of those around me as the is no vehicular access from the main road...0

I wouldn't do that, just ignore them. There is no legal obligation to inform them that you do not require a licence.
This to be honest. You can safely ignore all letters. You don't need to reply to them.
If you have the spare time and want to deal with them, then fine, but just be aware of your rights.
The TVL company, seem to treat everyone without a license as a criminal, and find it hard to fathom that some people aren't interested in the rubbish that's on TV.0 -
Lol - fail. I think you menat to quote someone else. This is my first post in this thread, so i'm not sure why you mentioned my supposed "obsession"0

These people "inspectors" are on commission, letting one in to your home will be a very foolish mistake indeed.
Signing anything would be the ultimate in foolishness.
The Legal position is this is a private request for issue of summons and in order to do that they need the NAME of a person to represent the offence in court.
NO NAME = NO SUMMONS
You do not have to give them your name or confirm any details, allow them in to your property without a correctly served search warrant.

Not really, since they still start from the assumption that every household requires a licence.0 -

Not forgetting that some of their doorsteppers aren't CRB checked, and you have no way of knowing, if the one you invite in has been.0 -
