Neck pillow for Long Haul Flight

As the title suggests, I am looking for a decent Neck Pillow for an upcoming flight. I did the same flight last year and really suffered with my neck.
I have looked at quite a few and all have varying reviews. (Poor design, rubbish material, best thing since sliced bread, etc)
So, any recommendations ?
Are inflatable ones the best ? ( I may have room in my small rucksack (hand luggage) to carry one if inflatable is not the way to go)

I have a standard cushtie cylindrical shape pillow and it's fab although quite bulky. I think they come in smaller sizes and travel neck pillow shape too.0

we have the big squooshy ones but have only taken them on one trip since we got them as they are just too big and annoying with all the other crap we carry on with us...so we prefer the inflatable ones because we're more likely to throw them in our carry-ons...they aren't as nice as the big squooshy ones, but since we actually use them more we prefer them.
I have actually thought about looking into one of these, as it serves a dual purpose...even though it looks kind of stupid.

I generally don't recline my seat much as it's not actually comfortable for me to do so, I seem to be at a weird angle when I do so...so something like this would be good for me I think.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
I have a JW Marriott Accent pillow which I have used for the last two years as I like a feather pillow and it is a perfect size. I am always threatening to put a button in one corner so that I can button it up around my neck, but never get round to it.

It is a good idea, but would it be heavy if full, or would you have to empty it somewhat to use it ?
Not sure it would work for me thought, no matter what I do, the head rest always seems to be just at the wrong distance (just slightly too far away - hence the neck ache) and would this alleviate that ?
Not that it does - but who cares if it looks stupid? It's not forever, and how likely are you to see any of the people on the plane ever again?“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -

To be honest, I saw this in another thread. But would I really pay £46? Not sure. (:rotfl: Well, I am a Yorkshireman!!)
Does it collapse any for storage? Or can it be stuffed into a rucksack?“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -

Yes, and I think this is the dilemmaso we prefer the inflatable ones because we're more likely to throw them in our carry-ons...they aren't as nice as the big squooshy ones, but since we actually use them more we prefer them.
To be honest, I agree and think I would be more inclined to use an inflatable type. What I don't want though is to spend 13hrs with a pillow made of "beachball" material round my neck (albeit most are a "flock" material) - although given the product, is there really any escape from this?“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. I have just bought a tempur travel pillow for my upcoming transatlantic flight and to use when over there
£37 but dont know if its going to be any good yet, can let you know in a few weeks time0 -

Being Goose down it rolls up pretty small, approx 10" long by 5" dianeter and can be crammed into a rucksack pocket.
Alternatively I folk mine in half around my laptop and shove it and the laptop into the laptop sleeve section of my rucksack, it soon flattens as the air comes out.The MSE Dictionary

Given that in-flight comfort whilst sleeping in an economy seat is the objective, I might well be adding the likes of a skyrest pillow to my arsenal.
If in any kind of economy seat it should be good to use slumped forward, and I like the idea of being able to rest a kindle, tablet, book, at a more sensible viewing height. Also as I have opted for a couple of Eco Comfort bulkhead seats with legroom lately, it would be ideal for raising legs for folk who do not carry on a case style carry on bag.

That's a very good point - as it is made from goose down, the air will come out and it will fold away :T
I plan to go shopping today to look at various makes/styles - so hopefully I will have more of an educated guess as to what will suit me.“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0
