    17 inch monitor
    Pentium 3
    windows 98
    10gb hard drive
    64mb ram
    floppy drive

    Is that worth anything nowadays?

I had a similar problem..mine was PIII 20Gb 128RAM Dell Dimensions 6 Years old[with printer and scanner] every thing was in perfect working order...placed it on eBay twice but no luck....

You know what I did? Upgraded the memory /changed to XP....took it back home....gave it to children to play and use it for studies....

It was the best thing ever I did in my life!

For example the above desktop was not even worth for £50 or £60 here....the same thing costs atleast about £250 in terms of equivalent money there....:o :o:o

If you really dont want to just through it ..upgrade it !doesn't cost much
  • I managed to give away my 17" CRT monitors to people I knew who still had 14/15" monitors. They were happy (bigger screen), and I was happy - got rid of bulky CRT screens that nobody wanted to buy. If you pop down to your local recycling centre, you will see hundreds of junked CRT monitors.

Certainly worth doing if the motherboard isn't already maxed out. A P3 will run Windows XP. As long as you can get the RAM up to 512M it will be fine. 10Gb of HDD is OK but you would need a CD drive. Have to watch out for any ISA plug in cards though. Windows XP isn't too happy about these.

I still have a socket 7 machine with 768M RAM (max) and an AMD K63+ CPU which is quite happy running Windows XP. Makes a very handy test computer. Don't think it will run Vista though :D

    no chance of running vista!

prob better to install win2k rather than xp.

a fiver for the cpu maybe, (on a good day) but a tenner for a 10gb hdd?
    thatll be the day.

I want to sell my PC which is about 7 yrs old. The monitor itself is really heavy and massive, So I assume the shipping is probably going to cost more than the final bid I'll get. So I'll probably lose money just by selling it. How would you sell yours, would it be by arrange pick up?

Have you considered paying someone to take it away ?

  • I wouldn't actually say my old PC is worthless, I can still do alot with it. Wordprocess, internet email etc. Its just that due to a lack of space I just have to get rid of it.

My crt monitor is bigger than most crt monitor you'll ever seen. Its from Gateway and its really massive. I'm just wondering if I do give it away, would anyone make the effort to collect it?

I have a five year old Sony Vaio laptop, it has 20GB memory and around 256 memory. The operating system is XP. The lid is very slightly damaged and the arrow doesn't work.
The machine itself works very well, would it be worth trying to sell on Ebay? Anyone's opinion would be great.

    Thank you
