How do I sell my old PC?

I want to sell my PC which is about 7 yrs old. The monitor itself is really heavy and massive, So I assume the shipping is probably going to cost more than the final bid I'll get. So I'll probably lose money just by selling it. How would you sell yours, would it be by arrange pick up?

If you are prepared to lose money and don't mind losing money perhaps I could suggest that you donate it to charity. There are several charities on the look out for old workable PCs, they recondition them and pass them on to people who would never normally have the chance of one.
No Matter what you do there will be critics.
  • dont forget to securely wipe all your data before you sell/donate it tho

use something like https://www.dban.org , as a normal disk format wont remove data properly

    Is that worth anything nowadays?

Nobody wants CRT monitors, so if posting, I wouldn't include it. If you want to do local pickup, you might as well include it.

You might get £10/£15 tops for that computer.

cost more in pp than the item is worth.

    freecycle it?
    Get some gorm.
  • To be honest, don't think it is even worth your time selling it.
  • I sold one of our old PCs... I wasn't expecting miracles - I got £60 for it, which was frankly a total bargain considering the specs.

You aren't likely to get a great price on ebay... but you'll get a bit. Make it collection only and there's no hassle - although arguably less bidders.

If it's just not worth the effort... freecycle it.

By the way, when my buyer came to collect, I offered to throw in the monitor - he wasn't interested ;)
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

The hard drive on it's own should get a tenner and the CPU the same.

You might get a fiver for the memory.

If you can strip it, you'd get more money for the parts individually.
