why would anyone work for dodgy agencies like this?
i work for myself P/T. charge domestic users 40 quid for the first hour. most probs are fixed within one hour.
business users are charged at 300 per day.
i turned down work regular, so there is work out there for engineers.Get some gorm.0 -
People work for them as it seems like an ideal job.
For some, a steady if not spectacular wage can be earned. But it would depend on whether you would be comfortable charging an 86 year old lady without the first clue in computers £120 for changing the resolution of her desktop and installing trial versions of anti-virus software.
I agree that there is plenty of work out there for reasonably priced computer services.0 -
I did it because I was just out of Uni and they were the first people to reply to my CV. The other guys were in similar situations. 1 good thing was gaining an understanding of how rubbish an employer can actually get.
In any case, after working there a few months you realise how easy it'd be to set up something similar by yourself, without the overheads they have, and just undercut them if necessary.0 -
It'd be interesting to hear from anyone else who has worked for similar companies.
It's an experience I didn't enjoy. I never even met any of of the PC Call Out staff, all dealings were done by phone and email. They also harrassed me at work, home, day or night - they didn't care. Last year, they booked me in for a visit on christmas eve, 40 miles away from my house, at 6.30pm! Awful, awful company.0 -
Gargantuan, Did you eventually get paid though?0
-
Yes, I was paid. I did have to email them a few times to chase up the matter though and they sometimes took a few days to respond.
Have you been emailing the correct person? As I found that there was a different person allocated to different things and they wouldn't forward my email on to the right place.0 -
yes, the right person, no response.0

If anyone who has previously worked for PC Callout Limited could provide me with an address in Spain, it would be much appreciated.0
-
Sorry, I was never able to locate a spanish address for them despite also looking.
I remembered the name of the company who's address is Suite 404 Albany House, Regent Street... (the supposed office of PC Call Out). It is "Hold Everything", as I'm sure many of PC Call Outs "employees" are aware. This address comes up on Royal Mail's records when you attempt to send something to them recorded Delivery. Their address is http://www.hold-everything.com/.
As you can see from their site, one of their slogans is "[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Locate your business in one of London's most prestigious areas, without even having to be in the country!". A quick search of google for this revealed other dodgy companies doing the same thing.
