Northern Cyprus.........again.His Honour Judge Pelling QC banned Maynard for life from selling land for business purposes in the UK and ordered him and Countrywide to pay £31,896,194 to the FSA, while Plateau, now in liquidation, was instructed to pay £918,975. A bankruptcy order was also made against Maynard, who is now believed to be living in Northern Cyprus

Believed to be is not cold hard evidence Ttoli, which is exactly why they said "believe to be"
However he will be right at home should he be in the TRNC. Perhaps he can be the new Gary Robb? Sounds just like what the TRNC will be looking for.0 -
There is a brilliant summary of all the problems you might face if you buy in the TRNC. Well worth a read.I can't put a link as a newcomer but it is done by Bradus on Cyptus 44 and is under the heading of "should I or should I not".0

Scary stuff! The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is fraught with poblems, and has as many corrupt and illegal practices going on as it does on the mainland in Turkey.:money:0 -
Sorry to reopen this thread after a couple weeks, but I found it accidentally whilst browsing the internet.
As there appears to be a few folk living out there replying to this thread I ask this,
If you are a British born Greek Cypriot living in the UK, how do you find out if land, and property that was left behind pre 74, still belongs in your name on the Northern Side of Cyprus? And indeed if you are entitled to claim it back if its still your family name as the title holder?
Family ties are non existent, as parents have long since passed, and relatives on the island...well who knows where they may be!
Can anyone give me some links to contact please? or any useful information for me to investigate.
Thanks in advance.0 -

Once you have established whether there is any family land still In the families name, You need to consult a solicitor, My understanding is that the Immovable Properties Commision, set up by the authorities here in the North to handle settlement/compensation stopped taking new cases on Dec 12th last year, as I say though you really should consult a solicitor, Here's the link for their governing body http://www.cyprusbarassociation.org/0
