jax, I think you have a registry problem
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310049#letmefixit
looks like it is common to IE8 and 9 - with pdf files.
Blue, would your techie friend be able to have a look online at Jax's computer and see if it is the registry files?
Alternatively I suggest you install google chrome and use that for pdf files opening, etc. Saves all the hassle.
jax, open Adobe, goto the second tab, and click on preferences. When it is open go down to internet, and make sure your screen looks like this.
Display PDF in browser (ticked)
it has a file path ie, C:\Program Files\Adobe\ Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRD32.exe
display in read mode by default (ticked)
allow fast web view (ticked)

Have installed google chrome and pdf files are opening without the message. But...it says at the bottom...
This type of file can harm your computer. Do you want to keep ChromeSetup.exe anyway?
is this ok?0 -

Yes it's fine, it's just a message warning you. I get it when I download trusted items. IE should come with the same warning x0 -
Well, what can I say!
I constantly read on here peeps helping/consoling other peeps...which is lovely, and is the reason why I spend most of my time on this thread.
Comps are emailed to me (thanks Drww), supermarket deals are posted. grab-it deals are brought to my attention and I -as well as my family - have enjoyed Hotel Choc/LTS vchrs because someone was kind enough to bring this to my attention. So sorry I can't remember who posted these... ( medication brain)
But I thank you and Aesop and every single one of you on this thread for being so kind, warm hearted and supportive.
Cheers to you all

Wouldn't mind but we got a family meal tonight for nephew's 18th typical so been trying to take what I can to help. Probs triggered by all the stuff I ate on holiday should have been avoided. So suppose self inflicted but did it really have to rear it's ugly head today:mad:0 -
