jax, I think you have a registry problem

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310049#letmefixit

looks like it is common to IE8 and 9 - with pdf files.

Blue, would your techie friend be able to have a look online at Jax's computer and see if it is the registry files?

Alternatively I suggest you install google chrome and use that for pdf files opening, etc. Saves all the hassle.

jax, open Adobe, goto the second tab, and click on preferences. When it is open go down to internet, and make sure your screen looks like this.

    Display PDF in browser (ticked)

it has a file path ie, C:\Program Files\Adobe\ Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRD32.exe

display in read mode by default (ticked)
    allow fast web view (ticked)

Just wanted to pop on and say thank you all for your lovely posts. I am reading them all honestly, but may not have time to comment on them. I am looking through links that you have all so kindly posted too.

You have all shown such help, support and compassion and I am truly grateful.
I have had more help and support on here than from any of my colleagues - not even had a phone call from 1 of them. Guess they don't know what to say, so have decided to say nothing at all. I just feel it would have been so nice if just 1 of them picked up the phone and even said we are thinking of you !

hun, we don't expect you to post and thank every single post. We just want to make sure you are ok, so just one post every now and again, letting us know how you are is fine.

Don't be too hard on your work colleagues or on the other hand, remember that is exactly what they are - work colleagues! that is how I think of mine, except for the 1 real friend I have there. Not bothered in the least about the others! I have plenty of nice friends away from that place

Thanks for that Aesop. I suppose when anyone at work has had a baby, bereavement etc, I have always popped around and taken a card and a hug, and maybe even some flowers, depending on the circumstances. The two people I thought were a true friend have only e mailed me about work queries that they don't know how to deal with and not even mentioned dad !
Guess from now on I will definitely think of them as colleagues and not friends.

that's because you are a wonderful caring person, they obviously aren't. Their loss, not yours. Our gain too :)

    Good morning folks

Snd (((hugs))) to you and your mum. When people don't know what to say, they quite often decide to ignore the situation. Its just one of those things, so don't let it hurt you.

We are all here for you, and can offer support and give plenty of (((hugs))).

    take care

You are very welcome. Unfortunately this sort of approach by people is quite common. It is not that hard to say sorry for your loss or something similar. You ae obviously not this kind of person because you are there for the good times and the bad times of the people you know.

We are your friends so just let us know if there is anything we can do or if you just want to vent please go ahead:A:A:A

    Morning all

Crazy windy here today. At least it keeps the rain away

Big hugs SnD. As already said its just good to hear your around. I echo what the others have said don't be too harsh with your colleagues.
Its easier here, we know each other well enough but with the protection of a computer screen, thats why so many find it easier to talk about their feelings and stuff here.
