Quickquid issue loan...then close my account

Hi all,

I took out a £250 loan with QuickQuid on Tuesday, the money arrived in my account, no problem. Today I log in to my account to discover that my loan is 'in default'. My first payment date was not due until March 16th (the loan is split into two payments).

I assumed this was some kind of mistake, so spoke to someone on the livechat. They inform me that my loan has been 'settled in full, and no further action is required at this time'.

Obviously, the loan isn't settled, I haven't paid any of it back yet, as my first payment date is not for another 8 days. Despite telling her this, she assured me that I do not need to take action.

Whilst talking to her, I decide to log out and in again, to see if the status of the loan had changed back from 'in default', however now I cannot log in, and she informs me that my account has been closed.

Does anyone have a clue what this is about? Obviously they are going to realise that I have the £250, which I have tried to make as clear as possible, but I now have no way of making a partial repayment, and apparently no account number to reference?

  • Strange... the money didn't get reversed out of your account later on?
    ..
  • No, not yet anyway? I just can't think of a reason why? All of the information I provided on the application was 100% valid.
  • Does anyone have any advice of what to do next? I fully intended to pay this back within the time agreed, and now feel as though I am going to get hit with charges etc when they realise they have closed my account without me paying the loan back? I just don't understand what could have changed in the two days between them issuing me the loan and then them closing my account.

This may have been an administrative error on their part - I would have the money in your account on the day the payment is due to be taken, as their system may still be set up to take it. If it is not taken, keep the money aside in a separate account. Try phoning them and asking for someone to look in to it for you, if you get no joy, write a formal letter enclosing any copies of the agreement you have. Im not sure they would be able to charge you for late payments if they made the error and didn't claim the repayments when they were supposed to. If you keep the money aside, as soon as they realise they have made an error you will have it to pay them back, that way no charges should be incurred.

Check your Bank Account now as they probably reversed or took back the money already. Ask your Bank if transactions are pending in your account. They will never forgot that they gave you £ 250
  • Sorry they are thick though I'm sure they use this to their advantage, the online account can be quite confusing but I doubt this is the end of the matter and I'm sure I've read this even happening once before... well probably a couple of times

I remember QQ telling me to allow re-instate of direct debit when there was NO dues owed, there was also the time when they insisted that had taken a D/D payment and they hadn't (was actually a very long delay) all this and different replies obtained from ALL their advisors...

All a bit scary if you add to that their dishonour fee starting from £12 if you leave this and they don't receive payment on due date, I wouldn't let it drop.
  • I am well aware they will not just forget they have given me 250...this is precisely what I am worried about. I will call later today and see what they say, but I just have a feeling I am gonna get screwed over here.
  • Hey - I know but these are frustrating

Once I rung them very late at night :o our time here in the UK, and got a man
Towards the end of the call he nearly dropped that iritating accent ! (sorry to any true americans) it was kind of weird he nearly come accross as a brit and I did get somewhere

    Hope this helps ;)
  • I have had the same sort of thing happen to me. i only took out £50 a couple weeks ago it was issued i payed back the £14.75 and was due to pay £64.75 today i noticed thismornig that the funds hadent come out of my bank, i went i go into my online acount and it wouldnt let me access my online account saying that my email address isnt registered with them, so i phoned them up to be told that my account had been cloes by quick quid, i asked them how i would go about paying the £65.75 that i owe today and they said that my account balance is £0.00 and i owe them nothing. i dont understand this they are not just going to write it off are they? i have asked them to send me confirmation via email and havent yet recieved anything. i am unsure what to do now?
