Bloody Air France....

I booked a flight to Nantes a few weeks ago for a business meeting, then yesterday my boss asked me to change the return date to a day later as we had some more stuff to go through.

Logged in to the Air France website, changed my return flight no problem to a day later (at a cost of £46.00) but when I clicked on confirm, the website had a wobbly and wouldn't accept it.

So, this morning, I tried again BUT when I changed my return flight I FORGOT TO CHANGE THE DATE!!! Stupid stupid me! So, instead of coming back a day later, I ended up booking an even earlier flight on the same day!!!!

I rang them up straight away when I realised what I had done and explained that I had changed my flight but made a mistake, I still needed to change the flight to a different day. The woman on reservations was so unhelpful it is not true! It was obvious that I had made a simple mistake, I mean, who wants to go to Nantes just to take the next flight back in the morning? In fact, who wants to go to Nantes full stop?

She insisted that I had to pay again to change the flight. I'm really peeved and had to come on here and let off some steam. How I explain it to my boss is another matter, but surely, when an obvious mistake is made these companies should be able to show some leeway? Brussels Airlines do, why is Air France so stubborn? Is it because they are French?

Rant over (I am sitting on the stupid chair now for the rest of the evening)

Perhaps we should put Air France on the naughty step.

Plenty of people fly out and return on the next flight - mileage runs. I don't get why you are venting at AF though, it is not their mistake.

I know Boobies, it was me not paying attention, but my point is, why can't these companies show some sympathy with idiots like me when they have obviously had a complete mind block and done something ridiculous? Most airlines I deal with at least have the good grace to sound sorry when they re-charge you!

They are French. They don't do sympathy!

Oui, c'est vrai. I have to work with them, and this is something that I have noticed, on occasion!

So many airlines have ridiculous charges for even changing something such as a misspelt name. In some cases you are cheaper to buy another ticket altogether.

I think it's time the EU looked into airlines so called admin charges and they should be a fair amount based on what admin costs they actually incur for changing something such as a name. Particularly when the alteration is requested within a certain amount of time or a certain amount of time before travel.

You are right fozmcfc, I rang them straight away, literally within 2 minutes of changing the booking, and I was really apologetic and groveling. I can't see why she couldn't have said 'ah yes, madame, I can see that you are a !!!!!!-brain today, I shall change zee date for you wiz no charge'. Still, next time I might go via Amsterdam with KLM instead. At least my baggage might come back on the same flight as me.

I think you will find that good customer service and a French company are things that simply do not go together!
