What network is the phone locked to ?

Thankyou Jaymarsh2005, there seems to be a small problem, as the code wouldnt accept anything apart from numbers (I cannot enter alphabets or spaces).

Can you please advise, and thanks so much for such speedy responses!

Enter the code with no spaces and without a sim card in the phone

To get the + sign you press the * key twice
To get the p sign you press the * key 3 times
To get the w sign you press the * key 4 times
When you enter the final digit of the code it should say phone restriction off and the phone
will be unlocked to all networks.

When I switch the phone on without the sim card (I had earlier used other sim O2), the phone asks me to enter the SIM, On using the SIM and pressing on undo (phone restricted), I have been able to enter the code that you have suggested but it does not unlock.

Sorry for the trouble, but can you help any further?

Can you also advise how many unsuccessful tries with the phone allow, before being completely locked?

What message did it say when you enterd the code, and its no trouble at all

It is 3-5 times for the code

if it said code error then use this one

on some its 5, others its 3

On entering the code and pressing OK, it said code error and brought me back to the code.
