I'd like to join in please. Although I get exercise from riding, it's not enough and I have put on a fair bit of weight, I need to lose it now!
Also because of being outside a lot, my skin needs some pampering and it gives me the chance to use up all the half finished beauty products I have littering up the bedroom!

Yes, Im in!
Ran out of facial microdermabrasion exfoliator last month and hadnt used anything like it since. Couldnt justify buying one at the mo and regular exfoliators just dont cut it...so I made one
In a small bowl, add caster sugar to your regular face wash or cleanser. Mix until its a thick paste(not too dry) and rub in a circular motion over your face. Wash off and voila, super soft, flake free skinYou can use sugar and shower gel for an all over exfoliator too and I have to say, I think its better than the expensive products I use.
I've got some hair dye sat in my bathroom thats been there for over a month and I've just talked myself into using it along with the HM exfoliator...be back soon....2025 Mortgage start £378K 2025 Overpayment £103 Savings Challenge 2025 **MONEY MAKES ME HAPPY**0 -
I really should join as I'm a fat cow and although I've lost weight recently, I don;t exercise hardly at all and I need to otherwise I'm going to go all saggy.
I have the Wii Fit plus, a couple of Davina dvds and Zumba II for the Wii and, so far, have used non of them!
My problem is motivation...
As for beauty, I've never really bothered as I've never had the money. We never go out so I rather get the opportunity to get all glam. Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

Blushing Rose, I am very lazy when it comes to exercise, I hate it. Which is why I will probably choose Zumba. I do love dancing, even though no good at it.
I am going to have to motivate myself to exercise at least twice a week, although it should be more.
One of these threads has an exercise challenge and to make it more interesting they choose things like crossing the channel, your favourite holiday destination, etc. They then work out the mileage for all of these, and you have to exercise that much in miles to see how much you can achieve in a month.
Maybe we need a motivation like that? Or we get to put a star or something :starmod: in our signature everytime we achieve a half hour of exercise every week.0 -
Nat, that is a fab idea, and so mse.
I saw this great tip for money saving too. Get a own brand shampoo or conditioner from supermarket/chemist, add a few drops of olive oil. Then use as normal on your hair, it will leave your hair lovely and smooth and conditioned. No more expensive products.
I have free hair dye from Superdrug, waiting to use it, but can't as have eczema all over my scalp.
another MSE tip ladies, want your hair done, can't afford it? Check out your local colleges that run beauty and hairdressing courses. The students need to practise and they are fully supervised by their teacher. Get your hair coloured, cut, etc for a fraction of the cost. Or check out decent hairdressers looking for models that ask you to come in for a free cut/colour.
Same with the beauty treatments.0 -

I love those challenges! I was thinking out loud on there last night, saying that I was going to set myself some kind of dancing challenge. I think that having something to work towards really will motivate us. Time to get our thinking caps on... :think:0 -

Why dont we combine both money and exercise? For every 30mins we do, put £1(or whatever we can afford) in a pot. At the end of our given time (Easter, at the end of every month?) count it all up and then that money is to be used on ourselves only! New nail polish, maybe a manicure, new clothes, haircut....what'dya think?2025 Mortgage start £378K 2025 Overpayment £103 Savings Challenge 2025 **MONEY MAKES ME HAPPY**0

That's a good idea - wonder if I would be able to stick to it?! Hopefully, although I am awful at spending money on myself any more, which although is a good thing most of the time as it makes paying off debts much easier, or the kids get treated etc, it can feel a bit frustrating every so often. So this way I'll feel like I've earnt is therefore I deserve it!
I've got hair dye that I've been meaning to do since before I moved house, mid December!! :rotfl:
Then I thought well I'll do it before Christmas.
Then between Christmas and New Year!
Then I was going to do it before I had my baby. He's 2 months old now! :rotfl:So I think I've put it off long enough now. Well, not even put off just not got around to it or 'I've never got time'. So maybe the next 25 min survey I get in my inbox in the evening when OH is here to entertain the boys, I will delete, and go and do my hair instead!
I've got some vouchers from survey sites that I've had for ages for Arcadia when I told myself I'd treat myself, but then everything I tried on made me feel frumpy and fat, and vouchers my parents gave me for my birthday last year because they wanted me to treat myself. I put off buying any new clothes because I don't want to get the size I am now, and because I keep telling myself I'll lose weight soon so there's no point buying something that won't fit for long. :rotfl:
So for every 30 mins of exercise I do I'm going to put £2 in a pot, and at the end of the month I will buy myself a new item of clothing that fits now, regardless of what size it has to be and how long I think it might last!!
I have more than enough lotions and potions, make up, nail varnish etc to sink a [STRIKE]small[/STRIKE] rather large boat! I work at Boots so when the £5 Number 7 vouchers are out nail varnishes are 42p for example, and the £8/£9 skin care bits are only a £ or 2 so I have plenty.
Can't remember the last time I used most of them though :rotfl:Half of November Make £10 a Day Challenge: £51/ £1700
