First night

Is anyone doing anything special for their First night? I was sat doing the budget with my Mum the other day and she mentioned putting some money aside for a hotel on our first night. I'm not sure if I see the point in this as we won't arrive till late and will have to leave early to catch our flight. I'm quite happy to stay at Mum's house with the family (as is OH). Is anyone who isn't having a hotel wedding spending money on a hotel for their first night?

That might be a night to remember, for the wrong reasons. Call me old-fashioned, but this would be one night I would expect some bodice-ripping action.

I think allowing some money for a hotel would be the best option. It doesn't even have to be a really expensive room. I would definitely not stay at my parents house on my wedding night!

We are having the reception at OHs family home, but are def not staying at their house!! (for starters there is only a single bed...!) We will go to a nearby hotel/ B&B.

Maybe try and find a hotel near the airport?

We stayed in the Bridal Suite at the hotel we had our Wedding. It made it a special night :D All our guests stayed over and it was nice to all have breakfast together.

We're saving up to book a night (maybe two?) at a lovely hotel near to the venue. At the moment it looks like there won't be any money for any kind of honeymoon, so we want at least one or two nights away, being pampered!

If you can afford a hotel or B&B for the night, I'd say go for it: it's not just that it's the *ahem* 'wedding night', it's also the end to a day that's been all about you two as a couple. It seems right that you should end it together as a couple, not surrounded by hyped and excited (or supertired and grouchy!) family members. End your special day in a special way, don't just go back home!

We stayed in a hotel. But, for those of you excited about 'bodice ripping' .... we were so knackered we just went to sleep!
