Hehe this thread has given me a good giggle

We were torn on this too - but in the end we went for a cheaper (novotel) hotel instead of the posh one we'd had our eye on. We probably won't get there til 1 or 2AM, then we'll be leaving in the morning, so it didn't seem important to pay a lot for it. However we're heading on honeymoon later that week and will be Staying in the Bellagio, Las Vegas so I don't feel like we're missing out

We got given a voucher for a 2 night stay in Whitby for Christmas from OH's sister, but they messed us about so we got the credit put back on her account so we can use it whenever.
We are on the lookout for some deals in York for a 2 or 3 night stay in a hotel to use it. We are going to a log cabin on the Monday after (Getting married on the Friday) but a lot of my family are traveling over from Kent or Scotland and will be going back Saturday/Sunday so we want to be able to go spend time with them, but still be able to enjoy our start of married life together and not having to worry about cleaning up etc

We are gonna book a hotel, my mam is staying at ours with our daughter who will be nearly 2. I'm dying to check into the hotel in my married name......Mr & Mrs Smith! :rotfl:0

We had a room at the hotel we had our reception in. Have to say it was very nice, we sat in bed, read all our wedding cards, opened all our prezzies and then.... and then couldn't keep our eyes open a moment longer and fell asleep! Really enjoyed having lots of lovely stuff for breakfast in the morning too before thinking about packing up and heading home.
We didn't have any plans for the next day though, and I really think it all depends on your plans, where you are having the wedding, and what you expect to be doing the next day etc.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
We are having a small ceremony with only a handful of guests, lunch in a nearby restaurant, and then going out in the evening with friends for drinks. So we will just be coming home to our flat.
If we had the budget for it it would have been nice to have booked a night in a hotel, but we simply don't have the budget. But even if we did i'm not sure we would have considered it anyway.
My sister did the whole hotel reception thing, and was given a night in the honeymoon suite as a wedding gift, which was a lovely thought.0 -
I dont think it really matters where you are on your first night, from a hotel room to simply going back home, however as long as your both alone.
Its your wedding night, first night together, I would be fuming if my WTB said we are staying with family on our first night, id be like "!!!!!!, our first night and I cannot get some special time, I want a divorce". You only get your first night once. Even if ive had 20 pints and being sick and I am struggling to rise to the occasion, my wtb is still gonna get some, unless you dont mind your mum or dad or gran listening, I would get a room. Even if its a travel lodge, I doesn't have to be special place as you are with a special person, enjoy.0 -
We booked 2 nights at a local hotel just outside of town. It was well worth it - we had a beautiful room, we felt like we were 'away from it all' a bit while not actually being far from home just yet!
The next day we had a lie-in, a lovely breakfast (and the day after in fact!) and went back to our house to meet family for lunch. It was nice to have a couple of nights 'local' yet still feeling a bit special and honeymoonish before our actual honeymoon

We are going home. We live on our own so have decided that we want to go home where we can relax and not have to rush about the next day to get sorted for honeymoon etc. We probably could have stayed in a hotel but decided we dont actually want to, although I think if it wasnt just us in the house I would want to go somewhere where it could be just us 2.0
