System down??
I ask for a PAC code but they tell me the system is down but they are able to check everything else about my account.
Is this BS?
Apparently ill get a text message with the PAc later today but with my account finishing tomorrow, the conspiracy theorist in me is thinking they're stringing me along until tomorrow trying to get another months payment out of me!
Cheers!

No. Its on a different system. System could be down. Keep trying every hour.
Ask them to note your account that the system was down so if they do come back to you with a charge then you can deal with it with proof.
Cancel any DD you have today now just in case.
You should be asking questions about why they can check your details and stuff and not issue a PAC etc whilst youre on the call!0 -

Many people had their credit histories routinely trashed because of doing this. Then, even if it was the network that was wrong, they spent months trying to get their credit files corrected.
Getting the money refunded under the DD guarantee is much easier if necessary.0 -
PAC is not something available in your account. It gets generated/allocated only when you ask for it.
Could you stop giving this utterly incorrect advice, please?

Is it really that difficult to understand you cancel your DD and pay by card instead??
I do and have done this many times in the past. No my credit file is not trashed by this action !!!!!!.
It takes time and effort to get the money back sometimes bywhatever guarantee.0 -
Unless you have cancelled your contract it will run on until you use your PAC. If it really does terminate tomorrow then a PAC is useless. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

It may be obvious to you, but not to everyone who you advise just to cancel the DD. Hundreds of such stories posted here when people end up with debt collectors knocking on their doors after cancelling the DD too early.
Youre a fool if you let it get to that stage. Simple as. Pay what you owe and keep track. Also, if you pay only a part of the bill by a card this doesn't guarantee you from late payment reported to CRA(s).
They dont immediately kill your credit file. Nor does a late payment do this. A late payment by X number of months will do this. You will be hard pressed to find out which telecoms companies wait for how long before they affect your credit file. Rest assured. It is a considerable amount. You were lucky. If I am still alive this doesn't mean that nobody gets killed in traffic accidents every day.
Its got nothing to do with luck. Its keeping on top of things. Paying what you owe is in your control. Getting hit by a swerving car is not in your control. Cross the road without looking, then you are at fault.Very little effort, especially comparing to getting your credit files corrected.
Some people have all their bill come out on payday. If a phone company decides to take twice the amount of payment, this may affect other bills. If then the company dispute to say they are correct (which most do for a month or two anyway) then youve just made a chain reaction to all your other bills.Hundreds of such stories posted here when people end up with debt collectors knocking on their doors after cancelling the DD too early.
I can give you thousands of stories for when a phone companies have incorrectly charged consumers and taken twice or more times the amount owed and how this has affected peoples financesand debt collectors harassing and knocking on doors.0 -
Surely the easiest route is NOT to have any DD? Giving a card number is no better, as you can guarantee the numbers will be retained and used (without your permssion) down the line if a DD fails.0

No one retains your card details unless you agree to have a card mandate. They cannot retain without your consent and ive not heard this done for about 2 years now.0 -

If someone is very smart and knows everything, they don't need your advice that you keep giving without any reservations. The OP didn't ask anything about the DD. So stop making your groundless assumptions and giving your worthless advice. They dont immediately kill your credit file.Nor does a late payment do this.I was ... shocked and embarrassed to hear I failed my credit score with the lender. ...I have never missed a single payment and my broker has said its down to Vodafone putting the late payment on my record which wasn't even the case....Its got nothing to do with luck. Otherwise it's just primitive fraud....They cannot retain without your consent and ive not heard this done for about 2 years now.0
