Don't be so grouchy techspec lol, it is much better to order something that you need for £1.99 than something you don't for £5, isn't it the grabbit mantra that 'it's only a bargain if you need it'? And of course a refreshingly complete contrast from the greed of those who opened several paypal accounts to get a few free £5's, I can see paypal having fun linking accounts and shutting them down lol.Comping wishlist for 2017

you have to commit to buy before finding out if code works.
No, you don't - please see previous posts. If you had put the items in your "basket" using "Add to basket", you would have applied the code (or not, depending on whether or not you were too late) before "checking out", i.e. committing to buy. If you got the message stating that there was no balance left, you simply removed the item(s) accordingly, with no commitment to buy.
I hope that makes things clearer.0 -
Don't know what happened but I paid by paypal and confirmed payment last night. When I logged on just now the item is still showing as unpaid and no sign of payment on paypal.
Anyone else had this happen to them?0 -

If you click "view all my transactions" there should be a little + tab where you can see a £5 credit has been added.
From that page you can also click "all activity (with balance)" and you can see the £5 was added to paypal before taking the full ebay purchase amount.0 -

When I spotted this (6 January this year), I made an enquiry to Paypal using the e-mail address on the DD authority...
Just an update on the, which makes the situation in relation to PayPal Direct Debits even worse... not only does the entity being authorised in the PayPal direct debit authority not exist, but the e-mail address provided on the form for queries - directdebit@paypal.com - doesn't exist either!!
E-mail to that address generates a delivery failure as follows:A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:
directdebit@paypal.com
SMTP error from remote mail server after RCPT TO:<directdebit@paypal.com>:
host data.ebay.com [66.135.195.180]: 550 #5.1.0 Address rejected.
Authorise direct debits from PayPal at your peril!0 -

Yes, exactly the same thing happened on my account. My OH ordered on his own account and his went through fine and has now been dispatched so not sure where I went wrong?:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -
Mine is showing as paid
You didn't use the code more than once did you?
Maybe get in touch with them and ask them why it hasn't worked! xx
( perhaps the transaction didn't 'fully complete' on the Paypal site? )
No, only used it once, and showed as reducing payment to £0.00. But 'my ebay' shows its not been paid:( I only tried to 'use' it again (to pay for the the same item) as it hadnt worked the first time.
Gutted, especially when you see people on HDUK creating over 40 ebay accounts to get 40 lots of £5:eek:0 -
