Coupon, some say that the Stephen Thomas case was a set up, and either Stephen Thomas doesn't really exist, or he is a pal of the parking company boss. Is there any evidence for/against this rumour?

What does seem certain, is that the latest cases indicate that if a proper defence is offered, all claims made by PPCs must fail upon the issue of unlawful penalty.

Well someone posted as 'Stephen Thomas' on pepipoo I think but it was thought the poster wasn't actually he. And Thomas' defence was fairly useless - lied that he wasn't driving - almost like he rolled over, like a stooge. ;)

Very similar to the mysterious 'other Parking Eye case' a week after Smithy's? Which all went quiet very quickly. I can't recall the poster's (unusual) name but in that case he 'apparently' posted on pepipoo last year and then 'lost to Parking Eye' according to some PPC poster gloating on here. But 'he' never posted again on his pepipoo thread (which a genuinely shocked loser WOULD) and his facebook account didn't show someone who was bothered...

They certainly sound like set-ups then. In truth it is not difficult to create a phoney case. Even if the person sued is real then all that has to happen is that the PPC pays the judgment money to themselves within 28 days and the CCJ doesn't get recorded, so the defendant (probably the PPC's boss's nephew) need not worry about it? Or the defendant may not even be a real person, ID isn't asked for at court.

Cheeks91 as advised be careful what you post regarding CPS, Perky does lurk! He also likes numbers in usernames? ;)

I have no doubt Perky has won a few, but look at his wins, the defence has either been not the driver, when they were and he could prove it! Or I didn't see the signs, when Perky could show they were abundant, some in his own cafe car park! However his little victories are well chosen. Last year he made 1018 keeper requests to the DVLA, either a lot paid or he cherry picked the couple he took to court??

CJCregg CP Plus can be ignored!

Interestingly Perky doesn't seem to have an electronic link to DVLA!

"This information is not held. DVLA does not have an electronic link with a company of the
name specified. Manual requests for vehicle keeper data have been processed as follows.

Combined Parking Solutions, 1 request received up to 25 January 2012
Combined Solutions UK Ltd, 1018 requests received up to date 25 January 2012."

I have one running with another company for a private car park I was permitted to be in. I have ignored them all. As far as they know they have a reg keeper address but do not know who the driver was anyway. They cannot even know if it is delivered as it is never recorded mail.
I guess for most people the letters are worrying. We are natural worriers and so the letters that keep on coming are a concern. Most people will pay because of the increase in demand and threats of court etc.

And post no. 4! Just keep on ignoring. N9eav was just chatting, not advising. Saying that he was ignoring and nothing was happening. Wasn't suggesting you paid, just saying that unless people are told the threats are a pack of lies, there's a danger they will believe them and pay. Don't you dare do that!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Yup. Next letter is going in the bin too.... I guess they will give up eventually. The letters don't even look official. I like the way they make it look like a fine, when in fact it's just an uninforceable invoice.
