I often do this on a Friday or Saturday evening to avoid spending a fortune on a takeaway. Make a chicken curry, I usually use a Homepride curry sauce, add chicken, button mushrooms and onions (chop the mushrooms in half and the onion into big ish square pieces) about 10 minutes before its cooked, add a carton of curry sauce from the local chinese takeaway. It tastes great (just like a takeaway curry) and usually satisfies my craving for a takeaway. It makes a big pan full, enough to feed 4 with rice unless you are bit greedy like us and eat it between the two of us! Sometimes get a few odd looks at the Chinese when I buy just one carton of curry, so I often buy two or three and freeze them.
Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place, still a bit new to all this!

hi wsl70,
I started making my own too, tastes as good.
I use 'original curry sauce' concentrate bought at a local oriental store called 'Central'. Costs £1.39 and keeps for months in the fridge. A couple of tablespoons of the paste, water and boil. this sauce is identical to that used by my local chinese takeaway and ive even seen them shopping there.

Is that Central in Milton Keynes ?

I have just discovered that sesame oil really makes my chicken and peppers taste like a chinese takeaway. (Funny cos I don't like sesame seeds whole...)0

The hot and spicy version of the curry sauce is also very nice.
I tend to do it quite regularly. Beef or chicken curry (with onions, bell peppers and a chilli) with chips and a few slices of bread and butter.
Yummy...0
