70's allegro, Ooh my dream car almost..
But you do need to be careful of older cars, That ones registered as a brown one yet its obviously one of the biege colours they did.
Colour change maybe? Or a cloned car?
As a later model it doesnt have a square wheel though so maybe look for a proper one.

Try a Toyota Starlet, bit of a grannymobile but they're robust beasties and cheap insurance.0

Square wheels rule
Could also be one of those ones where they just entered whatever the colour-blind dealer put on the form. Definitely need to look closely though.
As for the square wheel, if the round ones were anything like the Metro ones it doesn't take much to turn them square seeing as they bend so easily0 -

This. Surprisingly cheap to insure for a 1.3
In other news (which might help the OP) at what point does a car qualify for 'classic' insurance?

There isn't really a fixed definition. Depending on the broker it seems to be anything from about 15 - 20 years upwards. Even if they can't arrange a "proper" classics policy, most of the specialists can do very good rates for most things before about 1990 - the sort of cars that are now usually driven by semi-retired couples who've kept the car from new and have insurance statistics to match. That covers quite a lot of (relatively) modern stuff that people might not think of.0 -
Cheers Joe. I have a 1995 Merc that is up for renewal in July (swapped cars part policy) it's a daily driver so low miles agreements won't work but I was hoping the age might get me some cash knocked off somewhere!

You must know someone in there 30s/40s/50 who you can add, they never have to drive the car just be a named driver.
This. Add on the local priest too, all you need is some basic info
Infact, that could be a good money making scheme for someone in their 50's with 10 years no claims. For a small fee offer to be put on someones insurance. Win win!
I'm drawing up a business plan now, who's in?0 -
I don't suppose a bike is an option?
£100 CBT, £15 tax, £400 125cc bike, ~£140 insurance and some L plates. You could be on the road in a couple of days!0
