First car - limited budget, crippled by insurance.

Hi.
So I'm looking to buy my first car, I don't have a great deal of funds saved up (£500 at the moment) but whatever car I look at it's the insurance that cripples me.
Looking at my funds I have about £170 a month to use on a car/insurance currently. That allows me excess for petrol and free funds to save up to cover any bills for it etc.
The cheapest insurance I have found is around £1800. I am a 26yo male who passed in Jan.
Does anybody know of any good car deals that include the first years insurance or something similar? I have checked the VW polo offer but I cant afford the deposit, and I have also checked the Fiat only fuel offer but I dont meet the requirements (2 years no claims)
Thanks.

What model of car are you looking at Daz?"You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Make and model of car doesnt bother me at all. That insurance quote was for a 1litre corsa (cant remember exact model) but other corsa's were much higher.
As long as its not pink I don't mind ha.0 -
Try something larger, forget ins groups (within reason), insurance companies load premiums on the type of cars that young drivers typically buy.... Small hatchbacks.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Aren't some new cars offering free insurance in which case you could maybe lease something for under £ 200 per month eg Peugeot0

First time buyers need to stop looking at Corsas,Polos etc.Too many have been crashed by the young 'uns and are now loaded by the insurance co's.
Try things like Volvo estates etc, anything a bit leftfield, failing that there was a chap on the news a few months back whose first insurance premium was £90 per annum. It was on a tractor though.Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.
Got a huge Buzz out of it.0 -

Good suggestion, would a classic car be an alternative as well?0 -

Try getting a quote with Lancaster insurance with your details and use an E registered Ford Escort and under 5,000 miles per year. Mine comes back very very cheap and that's using no previous insurance like yours.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

I don't think so, not since the days insurers were offering free insurance to 17 year olds buying hot hatches, (XR3i, GTI, etc)only to see them usually wrapped around the closest tree to the selling dealership.
Nowadays you'll typically need at least 2-3 years driving experience/NCD to be eligible for free insurance."Now to trolling as a concept. ....
