It doesn't matter how many times you reboot your PC, your router is connected to the to the network using your phone line and whatever IP address is allocated to you.

All of this is logged along with a lot of other stuff about you and what you are doing.

At the moment your ISP doesn't really care what you are doing as long as you pay the bill so this information isn't used to point the finger but it's there and they can do it.

The anti piracy people know this and this is why they are pushing for laws forcing the ISPs to use that information to point the finger and then cut people off if they break the law.

If you think hiding behind a router and re-booting regularly is protecting you and making you invisible then you're sadly mistaken and very naive.

I didnt say we can hide from them i know we can't... i was just pointing out that as much as you do to keep your network secure people can still hack and use your line. Some people are clueless about network so not there fault if they dont know what they are doing.

Anyhow to stop this happening like sending letter will cost billions or millions! The should shut down the host. That way they will stop millions of people who downloads them.

    I'm sorry its a 2 way thing.

    i) The host's for allowing distrabution of illegal material

    and

ii) The downloader as they are effectivly stealing.

While shutting down the host is one line of attack the downloader is in effect breaking the law so should also be chased

Absolutely and the hosts are often located in countries that don't care about copyright and would be almost impossible to shut down.

All ISPs can do is try and block them, like BT and NZB search sites, and we all know how effective that was.

UK law isn't going to attempt the impossible, shutting down servers in countries that don't care, it's going to go for areas where it can control and that my friend is its own citizens, you and me because it knows where we live and what we're downloading.

    You're wrong.

Ignorance is no defense in law, the clueless and the stupid are subject to exactly the same laws and same consiquenses as the rest of us if they break them.
