Edited as OP edited their own post with an apology that must have taken some courage

I do hope OP has learned a lesson. Unfortunately as for repairing your credit rating, that may well be a slower process than you think. Would probably be a good idea to become less "disorganised" asap - posting on here may be the first step though, so don't get discouraged.0 -
20 posts and counting since joining this month, nearly all of them relating a sorry tale of woe about your own failings to organise and take responsibility for your life.
Landlords are not social workers, lifestyle coaches or surrogate parents to their tenants. I started off feeling some sympathy towards the treatment you apparently received from your previous LL/LA, but every post you have made has turned into an excuse to berate someone else for things that go wrong in your life.
You apparently left that previous property over 6 months ago - why are you suddenly trying to turn the clock back now? The time to get your mail re-directed was then, or you should have made arrangements to call and collect it once a week. Letting Agents have no interest in your mail or your ID for that matter.
I suspect that any accumulated mail has been left in the communal "pile", then been binned. Or perhaps some sympathetic neighbour may have taken it upon themselves to mark "Gone away" and drop back in the post.
You have admitted to some mistakes, you have admitted you need to take more control of your life, and now is the time to start. You come across as a very angry person, but also perhaps a little insecure, as you seem to be always on the attack. Chill, take control and if in doubt ask. No one here takes kindly to insults like the one you have earlier apologised for. We are only too keen to help people, but cannot always make everything better unless you are willing to help yourself!0 -
Its not an uncommon approach & tone with the "Yoof of today" but in the nicest possible way it's part of growing up and it takes a few knocks to smooth a person out.
Mrs Propertyman is still chipping away 29 years later
Stop! Think. Read the small print. Trust nothing and assume that it is your responsibility. That way it rarely goes wrong.
Actively hunting down the person who invented the imaginary tenure, "share freehold"; if you can show me one I will produce my daughter's unicorn0 -
OK.
I just feel that people should be taught, from a young age, how to handle money, to respect it and look after it.
They should be taught all of the basic life skills in school. (how to rent apartment, pay mortgage, how the economy works, what stocks are etc).
Could we not keep these students for an extra hour a week and teach them how to be responsible with money, and not act like fools?0 -
But ya know, why would the public school boys vote for that?
Let's keep the working class stupid and uneducated!0 -
Could not agree more. One would hope that its sort of thing my parents taught me, and is still the parents job, but most teens would argue that the sun rises in west if their parents said it rises in the east.

it is fair to say that it is far more complex with each generation and some objective up to date advice would be helpful. But since schools seem to have trouble getting people to add up after 11 years I am not holding out any hope.Stop! Think. Read the small print. Trust nothing and assume that it is your responsibility. That way it rarely goes wrong.

No not all. They get jobs where they can afford people to take care of the little things.;)Stop! Think. Read the small print. Trust nothing and assume that it is your responsibility. That way it rarely goes wrong.

Errrmmm - isn't that what parents are supposed to do, teach their children? my parents taught me and in turn I taught my own children. It doesn't take much, just a bit of common sense and resposibility !!0 -

Indeed!
What if one has bad parents?
They are unfortunate and will suffer as a consequence.0
