Another vote for driclor here just wish i knew about it years ago!!!

Put it on at night wash off in morning and then I use 'normal' deo. Only use it once in while now as sweating has stopped really.

  • I'm pretty sure you can't use it on your face, needs to be kept clear of your eyes. Plus your face is more sensitive than most of your body and if you do get irritated it would much worse then having a sweaty face! Your doctor would probably be best to talk to about something like that if its really bad.

I certainly wouldn't put it on my face - it is powerful stuff.

I am a slim, 27 y/o female and i'm very sweaty. I refuse to use any kind of chemicals/anti-perspirants etc (my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer 18 months ago) so I just have to grin and bear it!

I use a crystal deodorant now but obviously that doesnt remotely stop you sweating. It is very embarrassing at work... (I ended up in a tiny little vest top yesterday because I had to remove my rather sweaty shirt - and got lots of odd comments about it). The crystal is supposed to stop you smelling... which it does on my body but unfortunately I find that even tho I wear clean clothes every day and wash clothes as soon as I can (including hand washing my tops before sticking them in a hot wash) they can still smell a short while after putting them on clean :( It is so embarrassing... what is in driclor? i'm guessing it's chemical? is it aluminium chloride?

I second the Odaban that Justie mentioned. I've used it for about a year and a half and it's excellent. It costs 6.99 including delivery, and one bottle will last a year or so. It's only available online at http://www.odaban.com/

    Hope this helps.

    Paul.

I'd third the Odaban! My OH is an amputee and had terrible problems with his "stump" sweating in the socket of his false leg and causing rubbing & blisters, we'd tried just about everything including Driclor but nothing helped then someone on an amputee forum mention Odaban. He's never had a problem with the sweating since and lots of amputees use it so I'd definately recommend it. We've got a small independant chemist nearby, they're very good and order it in for us so it works out cheaper than buying online as we save on the postage (very MSE)! It may be worth asking your chemist if they can get it for you, you can also get it on prescription from your doctors.

ktb, there a some good info and links on the Odaban site about the rumoured aluminium/breast cancer link. Interestingly both my grandmother and great-grandmother had breast cancer yet neither of them had ever used any type of antiperspirant or deodorant.

  • Hi - thanks to you all for all the comments and suggestions (even though it wasn't my thread). I will also try the Obadan and Driclor stuff. I don't seem to sweat much, but do think I probably have a strongish body odour. Am now taking zinc at night, which is supposed to help. Also, just never think of buying any clothes that are not cotton. Also, full bath in the a.m. to be as fresh as possible for work, clean clothes every day (and again at night if going out). I do seem to be allergic to any roll-ons (especially with alcohol) including Mitchum and have been using Sure Activ-Response which at least my body will tolerate.

I realise (from a medical programme) that the amount of sweat isn't necessarily related to the smell problem, so apologies for going off thread. My sympathies to everyone who posted on here with any problem. My very best to us all! Have tried most (24hr!) roll-ons which are totally ineffectual and bring me out in a rash, and as you say, avoid the 'natural' things, which I think only work on people who don't need them.:o
