Deodorant for heavy sweating?

I know they say women do not sweat but whoever that was obviously never met me. I sweat such a lot even in this weather and it seems to be getting worse. I have to wear a short sleeved blouse for work and I only have two of them. They are both really badly stained under the arms and I have only had them for 4 months! I need some advice firstly as to how I can remove the stains and secondly what deodorant do I need to stop me sweating so much? If possible not to be too expensive. Thanks

I use Dove dry stick anti-perspirant, I find it very effective, much better than any roll-on or spray and it smells lovely. I've used Mitchum (sp?) and others but always prefer Dove.

As for the stains, not sure but I bet someone will mention vinegar in this thread very soon!

you can't take it with you...
  • I'm not sure about the stains either, but soaking in a vinegar solution does seem like it might break up the deodorant.

I just recently switched to Lidl's roll-on deodorant. It's 49p and I think the brand is Cien; the white smell is a fairly neutral, fresh scent. I found solid deodorants were absorbing some of the odor onto the stick, so they'd work great to start with and then less well later on. For awhile I used a combination of a spray on and a solid deodorant, but I couldn't stand the fumes of spray ons.

I wear a lot of black, so I just pop the deodorant on before I dry my hair and then give my armpits a quick blast.

Also, if you really sweat a lot, don't be tempted by natural deodorants. I've tried pretty much all of them, and spent loads of cash, but they just don't work for me. I do use the Crystal on my feet in the summer, though!

The best thing for heavy sweating is driclor. You can get it from any chemist and it costs about £5. You was under your arms last thing at night and then apply it. Its miracle stuff and you will have bone dry pits. After a week or so you only need use it every so often. Make sure your pits are totally dry before you apply it as it will sting if their is any moisture.
There are many things in life that will catch your eye, only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.
  • You could try making up a paste of bicarb of soda and water and putting that on the stains before washing. I don't know if it's good for removing stains but it does help with sweaty odour.

I second the Driclor suggestion. I couldn't find it in a chemist (actually I didn't look I was too embrassed!!) and bought it online.
It really is brilliant. I only use it very occasionally now as my sweating seems to have improved, but it did make me feel normal again.
I know use Mitchum which is good but is no cigar compared to Driclor.

i have used this before and it really helps.

some advice though - don't roll it on with a heavy hand thinking the more you put on the better it'll work. you will wake up in the morning with a swollen armpit, unable to shave your pits for a few days without shouting out in pain!!! unless that's just me?!?!? :D

I use Mitchum for my daughter. She's only 11. I'm a fat so and so but I don't sweat like she does! She's sweatier than my 3 boys. You get the roll-on, sticks or spray. I think they cost about £3.

There shouldn't be any odour for the stick to absorb. Perhaps it's necessary to apply the deodorant as soon as armpits are dry after washing.

I used to sweat a lot more as a teenager than I do now. My sister and I were both so good at disguising the amount we sweated (with Mitchum and I once used something called (I think) 'Anhydrol') that we both always thought of the other as 'the clean one'. Oh how we laughed, when we finally talked about it.
  • i am a convert to Driclor too. I started using it last summer and haven't looked back really - its fab!!
