Where is best to look for them? My local Mr.A has gotten really expensive for yellow stickered items. The lastest was a pie on day of use, was £3 or 2 for £5 normal price, YS price £2.58... not very good saving at all. Is this normal for Mr.A? All of the meat here is pricey too even yellow stickered its usually a very minimal 10/20% at most discount. Should I look to Mr.T or a different Mr.A? (we have 5 A's in this city)

Like you I have found the reductions are silly, knock 15p off maybe?
This is both Asda & Morrison's, no Tesco around here
From reading other threads may be go at 9PM and get a bargain? Not for me, but it does seem time related.
This Sunday around noon I bought a Romaine lettuce, reduced from £1 to 29p and an organic cucumber down from £1.40 to 29p, but TBH I doubt anyone would have paid the asking price in the first place, the cucumber for instance is about 9 inches long, worth 29p but never £1.40, the lettuce would make base for a nice salad
Oddly enough my local Co-ops have decent reductions, just bought 4 x 275ml bottles of Tuborg lager for 99p, down from £5.50, but again I have to question the initial pricing, who on earth would pay £5.50 for 4 x 275ml bottles of lager?Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Thanks Farway, I have three young kids (9, 8 and almost 3) they are usually in bed at 8pm so going to the store at 9 just isnt an option lol! Maybe I could kick my OH out to some nights to have a look though
he drives and i dont in case you wonder why he can go out when the kids are sleeping but I cant!

It was mentioned in another thread that mr a does the best reductions tues and thurs. I think it was mr a. My local one seems to have really bad discounts of about 10p too. Could you start a conversation if you see someone stickering about how there isn't much discount? I once got sas, eggs, mushrooms and bread for about 1.50 and I'm certain they had done it for themselves!0

I think we have to be aware that if we know and chat about discounts here then SM representatives will be here reading what is said too. They really won't want us waiting till things are 10p to buy them...Put the kettle on.0

Just another one who wanted to add that I find the best place for cheap yellow sticker buys is my local C00p.
The rest of the time they are mega bucks, but their yellow stickers are amazingly reduced.
In fact on Christmas Eve in my local C00p I managed to bag a whole trolley of goodies all with yellow stickers for about £18 and when I got home and totted up their true shelf price value it came to near enough £75:eek::eek::eek:.:j DEBT FREE FROM 01/01/11 :j

There is a more recent thread on yellow stickers called The yellow sticker challenge 2012 on food shopping and groceries. Great reading with a few tips. HTH.0

I bought a loaf that had a whole 2p knocked off the original price :rotfl: I laughed at first, but then I thought better 2p in my pocket then Mr T :rotfl:
Extra payment a week - 5/2/12 - £11.84 :T0 -
I think it depends on where you live and what time you go shopping.
I find that during the day most yellow stickered stuff only has 10p-50p off. However if you can find out what time your local supermarket reduces stuff in the evenings you can get some bargains.
However it appears more and more people are becoming savvy to this and at my local Mr A and Mr M you get people hanging around the reduced section when they are due to reduce stuff. Then, when the poor shop person comes along with their sticker gun the crowds pounce, often grabbing stuff out of their hands, pushing and shoving one another trying to get to the front.
Not for me thanks....I have stopped going to these supermarkets and just buy good value "in date" stuff at my local A1di. My weekly shop has reduced from £40-45 down to £30-£35 pounds and I have not compromised on quality. (I have only bought 1 item I was not entirely happy with and returned with receipt for refund)0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

The reductions around here are terrible no matter which supermarket or what time you go. I saw a joint of beef in the reduced bit of our local Tesco, it was 5 minutes before closing time the use by date was that day and they'd knocked a grand total of 50p off. Nobody would buy it at that price so no doubt it would go in the bin, sometimes I don't think the supermarkets want us to buy the reduced stuff.
I get quite envious of the people who post on here with their mega bargains because I never see any like that although I have found some good bargains in M&S, they seem to reduce by half.Dum Spiro Spero0
