New Halifax ISA Rates

Easy access online: 3.00%
Easy access branch: 2.75%
1 Year Fix: 2.25%
2 Year Fix: 3.70%
3 Year Fix: 4.00%
4 Year Fix: 4.20%
5 Year Fix: 4.50%

Doubtless there will be higher rates elsewhere (Santander looking promising at first glance). But if you don't want to go through the joys of transferring your ISA Direct Reward elsewhere there are a couple of options there that are competitive without being best buy.

As you'd expect, the easy access ISAs include a 12-month 'bonus' element.
After 1 year, the ISA Saver Online 3.00% account rate drops to only 0.25%, and
after 1 year, the ISA Saver Variable 2.75% account rate drops to 0.50%.
Access to this latter account is branch or telephone, and it is viewable online.

Transfers-in are allowed for all these ISA accounts.

    Thanks for the info.

Why would someone opt for 1yr fixed at that rate when they can go easy access for more? Surely the 1yr fixed should actually make you want to use it?? Not laugh at it!!

My money is currently with Halifax (well, my old money is), but looks like it'll be on the move.

I've re-designated my family's four existing Halifax ISAs over the phone this morning to the 3% ISA Saver Online. It happens instantly - the interest is added to today's date and the new ISA title and 3% rate is showing online already!

You keep the existing sort code and account number, which is handy as I might still transfer to the 3.3% instant access Santander one on 12/3/12 when I can do it online (no trips to branch for me).

Incidentally, we found their call centre staff were much more up to speed than last week when our Direct Reward 4 ISAs matured. We couldn't convince them to give us the better 2.6% rate last week despite some people on here managing to re-designate over the phone and had to settle for the 2.4% one, although as it turns out it has only been for five days.

Is it possible to re-designate online? (I think there was a page for this last year)

I am still hoping someone will launch a 5 year 5% fixed rate ISA. Halifax now seem the highest at 4.5%, but last year both Skipton and BM Savings ended-up launching 5% ones.

Telephone them on 0113 242 2229, option 3, option 1 and option whatever you like.

They will re-designate it over the phone there and then and it will show instantly online.

Just phoned up and the guy said i need to open the ISA as new. Sign a transfer form and post it or pass it in branch..
I asked couldnt he just open it up over the phone and do the transfer for me. He said it wasnt physically possible?

I'll just do that, since i am on my way past a halifax branch later today.

    thanks :money:
