I am lurking on this thread with fascination and awe. I would love to join you all but my family would throw a hissy fit if I did not buy them a few regular staples. I could do it if I shopped in advance but I thought that this sort of thing defeats the purpose! Well done all, you are an inspiration! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

Hi all - just thought I'd let you all know about a recipe I found the other day - uses very few ingredients but could easily be jazzed up. I had it for tea last night with fried plantain on the side but you could use banana or any veg really (the recipe uses brocolli!). It was DELICIOUS - so moreish. I added paprika to the sauce.

Hi everyone!
We are all doing so well, including you Jackie0 can I please adopt you as my grandma?!
Well as you can see from my signature the savings total has gone up which is good newsand my designer bag finishes on eBay this weekend so I hope to be able to add at least another £150 to the pot then. I am on maternity leave at the moment (still waiting for the little tinker to arrive ) so we have to budget very carefully for the next few months but with the tips I pick up on here it will be doable I think.
NSD today and don't see any reason why we will need to spend anything this weekend (the sunshine is free after all) so onwards and upwards xx

Brilliant idea PP. Wish we'd been able to do that when our kids were still at school but unfortunately both DH and me were only allowed to take 2 weeks at a time from work.

day seven of my f/fast and nsd today thank goodness I am trying to go 10 days before going to the shops so it will be Tuesday with luck if I can streeetch things out a bit.My eldest DD went away to Torquay with her family this morning and she texted me to say when I go up to shift her post from the doormat to check and take any fresh stuff that she has left in the fridge as they will be gone for a fortnight. So milk, bread, and fruit and veg are coming home with me also a little bit of ham and cheese. It would only be binned otherwise and she knows I hate doing that, soI will come home with a little stash of left over stuff.I do the same for her when I go away, and she takes any fresh stuff home to use up.I am pleased at how this month has gone and I am actually seeing a bit of room in the freezer starting to appear. Onwards and upwards chums .
atypicalblonde I think i'm everyones Granny on here honey so consider yourself adopted:)

Yay, Granny JackieO
You're an inspiration to us all.
Yesterday I stocked up the freezer with loads of vegetables and veggie sausages and have hopefully enough fruit to keep DD going (we have way more than our 5 a day so go through I do spend a lot every week.....)
Today will be a NSD, we have everything we could desire in the cupboards, fridge and freezer, with the exception of wine.........0 -
Day nine
I had such a lot of bits and pieces from my eldest DDs fridge on Saturday that I definitely won't need to go near a shop just yet
This is what she left
half a loaf of seeded bread
half a tin of baked bean
half a pot of M&S custard
6 eating apples
half a pack of M&S chocolate chip cookies
a pack of picanto cherries (not even opened)
4 large baking spuds
some cheese (around 6ozs)
2 oranges 5 bananas
6 free range eggs
so these will all get used up before I go shopping this week. Thanks to my profligate eldest DD its saved me from a shopping trip tomorrow.Still more pennies for the holiday fund:)
I will use the extra fruit when i take my DGS to the park today as we are taking a picnic and some squash to save a few bob more only 26 days until our holidays
Keep up the good work folks Its so easy to spend when the children are around .
JackieO xx0
