seem we got the payment repaid, wait until monday when they said they would telephone...
  • I'm still having problems. I was able to make payments until 2 or 3 days ago. I only ever buy thing's online, I can't remember the last time I used my debit card in a shop lol. This is really ticking me off now as It's my mums birthday on Saturday and I can't use my card to buy her a present.

What's even worse is that I've seen a massive box of chocolates to get her as well and have a promotional code for 15% off that expires today. Think I'll have to ask my grandmother to use her card and I'll pay her back on Monday hopefully if Yorkshire bank get's their act together or after I have rung them and sorted any problems.

Well all my account seemed to get back to normal until yesterday! Got 2 Atm's taken out twice again and effectively cleared my account so no money at all until it gets refunded.
    I agree about the compo!!

i have to say, reading this thread is total proof as to why it's good to have a backup account. Whenever anybody asks should they open a second account etc just link them here

Has anybody else been having the same problems today (2nd April) with their Yorkshire/Clydesdale Bank debit cards? Had a transaction declined in Morrisons, and couldn't even check my balance on any ATM's. let alone withdraw cash. Online banking shows money available.

  • Just happened to me in Esher, I'm working away at the moment and went to Waitrose to get some groceries, card declined! Went to ATM 'It has not been possible... yadda, contact your bank', phoned online banking, ' account in black, phew!' But couldn't get through to speak to an Operator. Waited 10 mins wondering how I'm going to eat for the next 3 days, went back to ATM and withdrew £150! what on earth is going on?

A recorded message on the 24/7 banking number (01419517315) as soon as you call it now says:

'We regret to advise customers that we are unable to process debit card transactions online or in-store at present,.. credit cards are un-affected . The ATM network is working normally for the withdrawal of cash. We advise customers to make payment by other means, where possible.'

A message on the above number now says 'debit card transactions are now operating normally, we apologize for the inconvenience caused to our customers'

4th time in a month this has happened though! not that I was affected by any of the other system failures, but I had to read about them to get to this thread!

Well folks it happened again yesterday!!
Card got declined but I went and got cash out so fine.
This morning card still not working and can't get cash out either now.
Same recorded message as before 'use alternative method of payment'.
since the last disaster I have moved some money to another account but this is really not acceptable
