Whole Yorkshire Bank System went down yesterday!!

  • The sysytm was definitley still down between 12 and 1 today i didnt know anything about it and thought computer was playing up so kept pressing refresh to no avail so gave up. Checked my internet banking to find 85 pound has came out with only 5 pound being re creditied..... What would i have to do if the rest doesnt go in ? x

    It will probably go back in Sarah but keep checking just in case. Which exaggerations are you talking about Viper. It is easier for some people than others to have other forms of funding rather than their main bank account. Also if they are fixing the problems 'on fail' why has mine gone back to not working again when it was perfectly fine yesterday? Are the new fixes now failing again?
  • I tried to pay first instalment on a new car insurance policy with debit card over the phone and was aghast when it failed to go through..as we had just deposited cash in the account to cover it. 2 days later...still can`t get it sorted....resulting in me having an uninsured car that i cannot use ....i have appointments out of town and work to go to on friday and saturday...What am i supposed to do??? They suggested using another debit or credit card.....well I don`t have either.....and having bought a car earlier in the week I don`t have spare cash to use..so i can`t even get a friend to make a payment for me. All they say on the phone is they can only apologise......Frankly that is no use at all.

    Oh dear slickmum what a terrible predicament to be in through no fault of your own. I find that the most frustrating that they assume we all have other accounts somewhere with pots of money in!

    Can you not take the cash out and give it to a friend, or wire them the money?
  • I have had a nightmare with Yorkshire Bank over the last 2 days!! I tried to pay a large amount off my holiday which was declined, therefore, not knowing about the problem (which is not advertised on their website) and knowing I had sufficient funds I asked for my card to be tried again which also declined!! I then went to look at my account online and they had taken the amount 4 times leaving me in a minus balance!! I contacted customer services who said "there's nothing we can do until it is sorted" NOT helpful when I have no access to any other money!!

    Today all monies were refunded and everything wiped from my statement like it never happened, however, I rang the bank again to be reassured that everything is back working and I could make a debit payment, so I rang the holiday company again for my card to be declined again!!! Not only is this embarassing but a massive inconvenience and just not good enough when I can not get access to MY money!! Lesson learned - I am definitely opening another account with another bank so I am not left in this situation again!!

    Grrr. It's making me more and more annoyed with everyone's stories.
    Mine seems to be back to normal although I'm sure a new direct debit was due out before now.

    Don't know if I'm just unlucky but been into my main branch again in an attempt to change the pin on my new card, something I've been trying since saturday, to be told that the system is still down and theres nothing they can do about it. As a new customer I'm not very impressed!!!

    l cannot provide a passport or picture on a driving license (not passed any driving test)... Only my hubby could get a basic bank account (due to money problems start of a dmp back in 2002-3),he had a passport.

    Which gives us a Atm card only.. The Yorkshire bank account.. I do have the use of his debit card as he is disabled unable sometimes to walk far. We are both of pension age, my little pension is paid into his account... I taken out over £100.00, which l knew the balance would more than cover it..To day before l did my Friday shop. I checked the balance, which was not right.. We both went up to the bank.. The withdrawal sum had debited twice.. I had three receipts of balances. She said did l go to the bank later at night, l said no and l drew the money at the branch Atm, if l wanted twice the mount l keyed in that twice the amount, up to the daily limit on the card.. It was to cover a bill...any way she told us that their system has been changed, she got a mini statement, which l normally get each time l use YB own Atm unable to do so twice... she seen the withdrawal was made twice..hoping to get our money credited to our account..she going to ring on Monday, as its closed over weekend, which is a pain in its self.. good luck to those who having a problem, we should have compo for this..
