You can get very good in ear phones for around £20.

There is a middle ground between cheap and nasty and spending an absurd amount.
There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.

Just because I use earphones from a pound shop doesn't mean I'm one of those morons who insists on listening to everything on full volume. I never need to turn my iPod volume more than halfway up and I'm the only person who can hear it, the person sitting next to me can't hear it. I don't understand how people can listen to an iPod turned all the way up but there are people who do  Idiots who listen to music too loud will do so regardless of the quality of their earphones!

Buying Alcohol and cigarettes from an Asian corner shop is another matter!
Implying goods bought from a shop owned by Asians are more likely to be counterfeit is racist!

Or, where I'm from, it's accurate.
I'm not being racist when I say this as it is a FACT. I have seen (and often unkowingly purchased) counterfeit items in 11 of the 12 corner shops around here.
I also have family members who work for the local trading standards department. Apparently, it's common for complaints with regards to corner shops to be about those which are run by asians, in which certain items are counterfeit. The main culprits (item wise) are bottled fizzy drinks (especially those of the Coca-Cola co.) and alcoholic drinks (especially Smirnoff Vodka) that are cheap fakes with the labels replaced, or are dodgy imports, and also dodgy pouches of tobacco.

The two are completely different (although frequented and staffed by the same undesirables).

Same could be said about this thread.

I was expecting this response when I posted.

That BBC story relates to the sale of cigarettes that were "made to look like well-known brands" but contained high levels of various unpleasant chemicals.

Are you suggesting that Poundland is selling counterfeit curly wurlys and milky bars?

I sometimes get cans or bottles of Diet Pepsi from Poundland 4 cans or 2 bottles for a quid.

Quite often they have toileteries which are cheaper than Savers, Boots, Superdrug and the supermarkets in my local town.

Got a multicard reader and a usb retractable "I" product charger, that works with everything I and others have tried from 1st edition to 4th edition Apple products. Ok so the quality isn't as good but they do the job.

My mum used to get her tights in there as well, but they stopped doing them.
