OK - so I filled in my application last night, entering 'No New Money' as I want to transfer from an M&S Flexi ISA.

It all seemed to go fine, and I got through to the screen which gave me the large highlighted confirmation code.

But I stupidly forgot to print that out and a few minutes later my browser crashed, so I lost it:eek:

I already have an e-Saver with Santander (and have had an ISA in the past) so I thought they'd probably process it quite quickly (as they 'know' me). However I haven't had a confirmation e-mail, nor is the account showing yet on my online banking page...

Is there any way I can check if this has 'gone though' or do I just have to sit tight and wait for that Welcome Pack in the post??

I received my pack on Saturday 10 March after applying by phone on 8 March. The transfer form has the Leicester address but is also printed on both sides. They tell you to retain sheet 2, but unless I can photocopy cleanly (which I can't) then you can't retain sheet 2.

So I decided to use the online form, completing the form on the screen. making a more legible copy anyway, and print just side one to send. Then print another side 1 and 2 to retain for records. I have sent it in the prepaid envelope to the pre-addressed Bradford address.
I always have a worry with Santander, and I was reluctant to use them what with their potential to coke up, but I was lured by the extra 0.4% when this one appeared! So I cancelled a PO 2 year FRISA within the 14 days cooling off period.

I wonder how many more customers might receive the same letter.

I've filled out two transfer forms as I have already used this years ISA allowance. But have held off posting the forms back.

I think I may go into the local branch and see if they can initiate the transfers.
Yes I wondered about taking it to a branch but decided there was still potential to mess up however it was done. :rotfl:I shall be relieved when the money has gone from where it it coming from and safely shows online in Santander. Transfers in the recent few years have been much quicker than hitherto. I can only hope this is so this time.

I have received my email from Santander to let me know my account is open however I notice that there is nowhere on the transfer form that asks you to provide account number or sort codes. How do they know what account to deposit the transferred ISA into ?

There should be a box for your Santander ISA account number just below your national insurance number in section 1. The box concerned will be pre-filled with the first 4 digits of Santander's sort code "0901" - so you'll need to add the last 2 digits of the sort code and an 8 digit account number.

I've just looked at a copy of my transfer form and all 5 sections are headed "1. Your details" !!!

I just phoned up Santander to convert my current Flexible ISA to the 2 year fixed Major ISA and was told that I could not deposit my 2012/13 tax allowance from 6th April because converting an existing Santander ISA is not considered 'opening' an ISA.

I was told that I had to open a 2nd Major ISA next tax year and deposit new money into that one instead and leave my 1st Major ISA alone. I said I didn't want to have 2 of the same ISA so he said the only way around it is to keep my current Flexible ISA and deposit 2012/13 allowance from 6th April then phone up and convert to the Major ISA.

    Is this guy correct?

I can't see how converting your flexible ISA to Major ISA is any different to transferring in from outside, when you are permitted that short period to make 2012/13 contributions.
Maybe worth phoning again maybe at at different time of day, to get clarity on it, and maybe get it in writing too.

Omg god noooo he is wrong u can upgrade and still deposit between the 6th & 14th April, that guy is totally wrong
Please do try again if they give u any of that again tell them to read their product overview which we read to the customer about the account so everyone gets the same & correct information.

    Hi,

I recently opened a Santander 2 Year Fixed Rate Major ISA at 4.00% funding it by transferring in old ISAs from previous tax years.

As yet I haven't opened an ISA for this tax year but am hoping to have the cash to do so in a couple of weeks time.

My question is, can I add cash to my Major ISA in a couple of weeks time for the tax year ending April 2012 or do Santander require cash for this tax year to be paid in when the account was opened? Alternatively can I open a second Major ISA for the cash instead?

When I asked about this in my local branch the staff explained about the two weeks opportunity to pay cash in between the 6th and the 14th April 2012 but that's no good for me as I want to use this years ISA allowance. They implied I can't do it as new cash for this year has to be paid in on account opening but the terms don't exclude it as far as I can see.

Thanks for any help to answer this.

Does anyone know when interest is paid? Is it annually or when it matures on 01/05/2014?

    Thanks.
