I see you are on ADSL2+, do you know if you have recently been upgraded to this?
I say this because when my Exchange was upgraded my ISP upgraded me and from then on I have been experiencing periodic drop outs, they last for about 2 minutes and then reconnect.
My computer is on an extension quite a way from the master and I put it down to the fact that now my line is not good enough to maintain the higher speeds on ADSL2.0 -

Same happened to me. My old modem router although supporting ADSL2+ in the specs, was not able to do it reliably over a long period of time. The unit was discontinued and no firmware upgrade was available, so I had to buy a new one.
So maybe a new box from O2 will fix things?0
