Sounds just bit dodgy to me; wonder if they've tried that on anyone else?

I've used tyrefitdirect.co.uk in the past and had a pretty poor experience.
They fitted 4 tyres to our family car. All four keep going down and need pumping up every 2 to 3 weeks. Clearly a problem with the way they were fitted. Old tyres never needed pumping up.
The phone number in their email doesn't work. Eventually got their number of the web and called them up - four months after the tyres were fitted.
The response - "must be a problem with your rims". I pushed a bit more - "you took too long to let us know, we can't help you". A bit more of a push - "we would have to charge you to come out and fix that".
I spent nearly 800 quid with them. Never again. A crap job done the first time and rubbish customer service to top it all off.0 -
Erm, maybe it is your rims... As they get rusty/mucky and your old tyres will have moulded to the rims0

It is pretty new car - 54 reg, and all rims are alloy and in very good condition. I'll take the car into a local tyre fitting place to have things sorted out.....0 -

I'd say write to them stating that they must come out and refit the tyres properly. If they do not you will take the car to an independent tyre specialist to have them re-fitted and will then bill them for that cost.
They must by law have their main business address on the website and also, if you can purchase through the website, an operational email address I believe. (e-commerce regs?).
If you then have to go to an independent tyre fitter you can get their opinion as to whether the rim is the problem or the tyre or tyre fitting. If you are lucky they might do this in writing (if you can find one that can read and write). Or ask if you can photograph each rim while the tyre is off.
It would then come down to presenting them with the evidence or lodging a small claim, although it only costs me £40 to swap 4 tyres so you might decide its not worth it.
I don't think I'd use a mobile tyre fitter anyway, I can't see how a wheel balancing machine can work as accurately on the back of a van that could move during the balancing operation as a machine thats bolted to the floor.0 -

If it was then the fitter should have cleaned them up before fitting the tyre or pointed it out to the customer that the rims were corroded. Surely?0 -

No it isn't. It does have restrictions on who can become a member, but it includes a fairly wide range of employers.0

Just booked two new tyres for fitting yesterday, cheapest online in principle, however they phoned back today, "tyres you wanted are not in stock and won't be for 6 weeks, but we can offer you X range instead but it will be an extra £40!"
Told them forget it; no customer services to speak of, my complaint got nowhere.
Be wary, as it seems thatthey attract you in with a low price and then get you to buy a more expensive tyre.0
