They must have been told about it, otherwise how did they get the information.

Ask your employer? As it's their responsibility to advise - normally by the July following the end of the tax year. You should also have a copy if it's on a P11D - or a correction P11D.
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

No, never knew a thing about it. I only sent the letter off about the work uniform 2 weeks ago. Can`t be a coincedence.

If that is the case then your application for expenses for your uniform will not have been worked yet and the issue of the P800's is coincidental. Check the calculations to see if there is any mention of expenses being taken into consideration. If they aren't then be prepared for revised calculations to come out within another couple of weeks.

Also HMRC would only have found out about your car after the end of the tax year when your employer sent in the P11d, too late to avoid an underpayment of tax arising in that tax year but not subsequent years.

Post #15 suggests the P800s are as a direct result of the claim (see the £60 flat rate). HMRC are clearly getting much quicker. ;)

The P800 includes my Uniform laundry claim, when I phoned they said the claim had provoked the 6 year back check but it would probably have been done anyway.

As they would have been told about my company car information at the end of tax year 08/09 and didn`t act then.. I have requested a `esc a19` claim ;)
